How about a /cock/ thread?

What would you use to make that cartoon-esq meat on a bone thing?

Could you make a meal based on a character? ie Bub-meal: shredded beef, cheap beer (think pbr or natty ice) and a very discrete serving of poutine

Universal really got great at making themed stuff for their parks. The two types of Duff beer were cute, and all the themed mixed drinks around the park are pretty unique. Not too /co/ but all the harry potter shit is kind of an experience in and of itself. I doubt they have the rights for it but seeing islands of adventure have marvel themed drinks in Florida could be pretty fun.

>Ghibli's the only studio that has even come close

Ghibli food looks like its made of plastic or rubber. Like, their meat looks like those squeaky toys you'd give a dog shaped like a steak or a drumstick.

Not appetizing at all. No texture, completely artificial looking.

The Moe's Tavern in Universal Florida is fucking amazing. I felt like I was making a pilgrimage to Simpson's Mecca, the recreation of the bar was so precise.

BUT they fucked up on the Flaming Moe. Using dry ice to get the smoke effect was clever, but WHY did they use orange soda when it's supposed to be purple? They should've used grape soda.

>>93803762
>What would you use to make that cartoon-esq meat on a bone thing?
Well the meat you show in the OP has a 7-shaped small bone that imply it is 7-bone chuck. I seriously doubt it is suppose to be roasted that way, it would be shoe leather.
>>
>>93805602
It's a source of employment for them, it's not unreasonable to assume that multiple pelicans service one household in shifts.
>>
>>93805539
I still consume dairy, and every once in a while fish/shellfish. and I'm not into pseudoscience bull. I've just had meat in my diet and out of my diet, and since I have a bad migraine disorder which is triggered by various things (i.e weather, certain foods etc)- what I've done is figure out what makes my headaches happen more frequently and stop. not eating red meat/poultry has literally cut my migraine frequency in half, it's not unusual. I don't consume sweets for the same reason- automatic headache (same with alcohol obviously, and I don't have coffee, etc).
Of course humans are omnivores, but not everyones bodies function the same (i.e food allergies, etc), doesn't mean its any less natural, ya feel?

anyhow back to the sandwich, I never know with those huge sandwiches, is it supposed to be eaten with a fork and knife? or would you have to break your jaw for the experience

I always eat gigantic sandwiches like that with a fork and knife.

I know it's more "manly" to try to maw then with your hands, but that ends up being messy, and you don't get the full spectrum of taste that is intended since ingredients inevitably get squished out and left behind by our teeth that aren't meant to bite into something that tall.

As far as the migraines go, I guess I can believe that. My mother suffers from them. They seem so irrational to everyone else since modern science hasn't figured them out yet.

Caffeinated coffee actually helps my mother with migraines when she drinks it before bed, btw. Try it, senpai. Best of luck to you.
>>
>>93805909
yeah you're right, I guess I just need a sharper knife for my sandwiches. man tall sandwiches just look so good for some reason. it's glorious, I guess

and yeah migraines are definitely not as fully explained as I'd like them to be, but one can hope that'll change in coming years. sorry to hear your mom suffers from them too anon, they totally suck. I'll try that coffee thing though! worth a shot, danke

anyway don't let that guy get to you, we're not just omnivores - we're opportunistic omnivores; we eat what's available, and in a post-scarcity or near-post-scarcity society, that's whatever you can make a balanced diet from on your budget

if you're smart, you can do it as you know

I didn't realise until now but I think the ending of Ratatouille was a reference to the concept of "Madeleine de Proust"
>No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. An exquisite pleasure had invaded my senses, something isolated, detached, with no suggestion of its origin. And at once the vicissitudes of life had become indifferent to me, its disasters innocuous, its brevity illusory – this new sensation having had on me the effect which love has of filling me with a precious essence; or rather this essence was not in me it was me. ... Whence did it come? What did it mean? How could I seize and apprehend it? ... And suddenly the memory revealed itself. The taste was that of the little piece of madeleine which on Sunday mornings at Combray (because on those mornings I did not go out before mass), when I went to say good morning to her in her bedroom, my aunt Léonie used to give me, dipping it first in her own cup of tea or tisane. The sight of the little madeleine had recalled nothing to my mind before I tasted it. And all from my cup of tea.
>—Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time

In French it's used to describe involuntary memories stemming from enountering mundane things that are linked to your childhood, here mundane food items.

As time went on I noticed the animation budget getting better, as well as there being actual stakes and stuff happening other than Asterix and co. take care of the problem without breaking a sweat.

When I was a kid I saw Meowth eat this on Pokemon and I wanted it so bad. Looked like a giant chicken nugget with a handle. Its also the flagship item for the game series Monster Hunter. There are tons of videos on youtube of people trying to replicate "bone meat" including a licensed restaurant in Japan. Basically you take a big bone, smush a bunch of ground beef around it in the right shape and then wrap it all in bacon and bake it. Doesn't sound great. I've had this conversation with my friends and you basically need to just suck it up, go to a butcher and ask them "What cut of meat should I use to make this cartoon food irl?" And probably also ask the best way to cook it because it seems like a thick piece of meat.

Here's a recipe I found for "manga meat," it basically involves ground meat, wrapped around a shaved burdock root (why it wasn't a regular bone I have no idea), wrapped in slices of beef, with the outsides caramelized in a sweet sauce. At least it looks accurate!

Here's the least bastardized version I could find; it's just a whole pork loin with a turkey bone through it. Here's the recipe:

5 Lbs Pork Loin
3 Turkey Leg Bones
4 Tbsp Red Miso Paste
4 Tbsp Honey
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Tsp Black Pepper
1/2 Tsp White Pepper
1/2 Tsp Garlic Salt
1/2 Tsp Five Chinese Spice

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice your pork loin into 3 even segments. Take each segment and with a steak knife make a small “X” through the core of the meat. Insert the turkey bones into each piece of meat so the ends are sticking out evenly on both sides.

Step 2. Combine your red miso paste, honey, black pepper, white pepper, garlic salt, 5 Chinese spice, and brown sugar in a small bowl and mix until it forms a smooth even paste. Using a brush, apply to each piece of meat.

Step 3. Place your meat in a glass baking dish and bake in the oven on the middle rack for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove, let cool, and serve.

Now that one doesn't sound so bad, but you're still having to fudge it by shoving one animal's bone into the meat of another animal.

The closest thing I've ever seen to real life "manga meat" is the pork shank they used to serve in Disney World.

It was tasty as hell, but a lot like the Disney World turkey leg, it was so much of one kind of meat you eventually got sick of it before finishing.

That' just because animals are not meant to be eaten. But humanity say fuck that, and domesticated them. Wait long enough and we will have fantasy meat, even if that required us to 3D-print the damn thing. The meat on a stick had always been how we wanted meat to be and one day, it will happen.

Eh, I think those recipes are overdoing it. Chili's best when you keep it simpler on the flavors.

I include:

Water (duh)
Ground beef, browned/drained
Tomato sauce and paste
Jalapenos and Habaneros
Masa flour
Chili powder
Cayenne/red pepper
Black pepper
Cumin
Salt
Minced garlic
Half a red onion
And a little oregano

But I hate it, personally, when chili has chunks of tomato in it, or especially beans.

Then my mom told me it was ham and I was like "that's not what ham looks like". Cuz I was stupid.

I also remember getting fried chicken for the first time and being disappointed it wasn't nothing but drumsticks. Because when someone is eating chicken in cartoons, it's always drumsticks and nothing else.

>Mexican bacon is not a thing. It's just supposed to be a joke opposite Canadian bacon.

I got that, but I meant what I could substitute for this imaginary bacon to create an approximation of that sandwich.

One anon recommended "jamon". I'll have to try that.

Why water? I just use a couple cans of tomato sauce for the sauce and it does the trick.

Butter cookie? I always imagined it was a buttery cracker like this
>>
>>93839921
Nope! It's essentially petite beurre but shaped like a circle, you can find these every where in France.
Don't tell me you use a salted cracker in milk anon......

Is that glazing on fucking oatmeal? blurrrghhh
>>
I dunno why, but that one Foster's episode where Bloo and Mac are trying to get to dinner makes me starving. The food doesn't even look good, but something about the constant talk of wanting to eat just gets me hungry.
