Given that OolongEarlGrey's stuff made the rounds on /v/, /tg/, and /i/ for years, It's kind shocking that no one's really talked about Hero Quest when it finally got started.

Then again, the guy does it all alone, doesn't have a very consistent update schedule, and it's only recently broken 100 pages.

That, and he also has to devote time to commissions because those make him money.

A Legend of Zelda fan comic called A Tale of Two Rulers. Basically Zelda gets fed up with the whole "Ganondor takes over, I have to hide, Link comes and saves the day." cycle. Her solution to this is to ask Ganondorf.... TO MARRY HER!. Hijinks ensue(Also somehow Link gets reincarnated into a girl in this life.)

It doesn't feel as good to me as it used to, but I'm still keeping up with it regularly. It's been a pretty neat ride through various coming of age conflicts.

Sluggy Freelance. And with good reason. The artwork has BARELY improved in over a decade, and was never all that good to begin with. The plot should be a textbook case of "Keeping a daily plot going without having an actual plot in mind." The consistency suffers HARD from this, with the comic moving from slice-of-life to comedy to sci-fi to drama to whatever the fuck and it never sticks with anything. There's serious and major shit happening with the plot, but good luck trying to care about it when you get stuck with STICK FIGURES IN SPACE!!!! and another Harry Potter parody/ripoff every so often. I'm convinced that historians will look back on Sluggy Freelance and use it as an example of "If you do something long enough, eventually you'll get paid for it."

Dreamkeepers. And for good reason. I swear to god the entire comic was created by someone thinking "I wonder just how MANY rainbowsparkledog OC's I can fit into a single comic?" The artwork varies from not half-bad to SWEET JESUS CHRIST LEARN SOME GODDAMN ANATOMY, sometimes on the same page. The worst sin is probably the characters themselves. Everyone feels 2D, almost nonsensical. The character Lilith is a prime example of what's wrong. Her half-sister is kept locked in her room for the majority of the day, and is locked away from society at large to protect her father from the scandal of the affair. Her half-sister is miserable the majority of the time due to this, and has expressed as such to Lilith. Lilith doesn't only not react to this, but despite claiming to care a great deal about her half-sister(and the webcomic painting Lilith to be a great person), doesn't do ANYTHING to help her half-sister escape her private hell. For years on end. It takes her step-mother actually trying to actively KILL them both for Lilith to finally say "Gee, maybe this isn't right?" Keep in mind Lilith is supposed to be a SMART character.

I honestly can't really recommend most of these. I don't remember where discovered most of these and looking at them like this kind of don't know why I bother with half. Guilded Age is great when it's not about the dumb twist, and bizarrely can function really well without it too. Darths & Droids is pretty funny. Cut Time and Soul to Call are good reads for the art and an okay story. Death's Candy is along that vein and has better character writing, but has gotten mentioned already and someone was pushing it hard a few months ago which got me into it, so it doesn't really count here. /co/ otherwise talks about the ones I'm into, like Unsounded (which must be the most consistently discussed webcomic here that is at least half a hate thread), so there's not much to mention there. The Meek and Ava's Demon are finally fucking updating again, so check those out. Well, the Meek has been getting them like once a month, but better than that hiatus. Haven't seen a Harpy Gee thread in awhile, but there used to be regular largish ones.

Are webtoons alright? Some of the ones hosted on Line Webtoon are from Western artists.
