Wakanda is a racial mary sue. Since Africa never produced any great civilization we need fiction to give them something to be "proud" of.
They have vibranium and suddenly that explains all their development, even though it doesn't explain how they managed to learn to extract it, smelt, purify, cast and forge it, while all the cultures surrounding them didn't had that knowledge.

The fact that their God is derived from the egyptian god Bastet, it stands to reason that it wouldn't be that far from Egypt but again, retcons make it hard to pinpoint where it is. You can also no-prize it by the fact that Marvel Earth =/= Our Earth and it's entirely possible that the Romans tried to take over larger swathes of Africa in 616 before the Wakandans kicked their asses back home.

No, it's the old saying "necessity is the mother of invention". The harsher climate and conditions of the deserts, temperate zones, and tundras beyond the African continent force our ancestors to develop strategies and technology to survive. There was no incentive to develop better weapons, tools, agriculture, etc in sub-Saharan African, shit wasn't great, but it was good enough for them.

That's not really hard when the US strategy was to keep them at bay until they would have gassed enough sothern civilians to create a stable majority for whatever government they wanted on their half of the penninsual. Militarily defating the north never was on the table, they just tried to keep them out of their hair while they depopulated the South into a more managable state.

Wakanda was first created in the pages of Fantastic Four back when their main gimmick was going around and discovering hidden civilizations.
So Wakanda had to be a hidden civilization that the Fantastic Four "discovered" in an adventure.
But in-universe it's protected by magic, geography, and a military with that advanced tech. That's what made it so unfriendly to visitors.
The magic and geography made it isolated, and that made it peaceful, peaceful and magic allowed scientific advancements, and all that peace and advanced tech made for more reasons for isolation later on.

The issues are that
a) Americans are penny pinchers. They won't actually invest the money required to make the wall work. Like they had a civil war when they were told that they would have to do their part to keep slavery going and niggers contained, and this here is much worse than that was.
b) Americans like drugs and their secret service is funded by drug trade, so they got no reason to make the wall work
c) a lot of migrants arrive at airports and with tourist visas

Finally
d) Wakanda's wall is fictional. It only has to be good enough to keep non-existing Africans out of a non-existing nation, which is easy

If I'm not mistaken, they don't have horses or cattle, and if they did those animals would be eaten alive by the bugs, so no real reason to domesticate anything bigger than a pig, thus not a lot of horse-power for pulling along big stones and building things.

Then, there's no wheat/rice, and worse, there's no winter that sweeps in to kill off all the pests while the grain is collected. So I do think the climate plays a huge role in this. The heartiest of crops down there (I'm thinking of Yams n' shit, only because I read about that in "Things Fall Apart") takes more effort to grow and nurture than Asia/Europe's staple crops, so no reason to invest much in it (unless insecticides are brought to 'em). Not when, apparently, you can just eat the fruit from all the trees and live like Hunter/gatherers.

I'm basically making this up based on stuff I've read or watched. I have no clue when cattle were domesticated in africa, but based on videos like this one, I'd have guessed not 'till European/Arabian traders brought them along.
