Do you like superhero movies, /co/? It seems like there's a lot of complaining out there about how comic book nerds have taken over the movie industry and that big companies have made a dark pact with comic publishers to get nerds to keep coming into theaters...
But, really, for me, it seems like it's just the opposite - comics and movies are so different that comic book movies seem to be made for a more mainstream audience while comics will continue being read by a niche group of neckbeards.
Directors and producers complain about having to "pander to nerds" but it doesn't seem like they're pandering at all, they're just taking advantage of the built-in audience these movies will have and trying to put as many asses on seats as possible.
It's become a marriage that's polluted both hollywood blockbusters and cape comics. Comics have been increasingly wasting the medium's true potential in efforts to be more "cinematic" while superhero movies have become serialized and unwilling to stand alone.
Yeah, but everything after Push and Jumper has pretty much been the same two brands of comics i've read my entire life and don't really need to see a worse version of.
