It's basically a 'What if Frank Castle was actually just a regular guy way in over his head'. This version of the Vigilante constantly battles with shifting morals, losing his friends, family and lovers, dealing with the real world effects of vigilantism, and succumbing to a downward mental spiral leading to himcommitting suicide in the final issue
It's a bit dated but was way ahead of its time

I'm doubtful. Vol.1 only came out recently enough, but the fact there's been zero listings for the second coupled with DC's poor history with collecting older C/D-list runs doesn't terribly inspire me with confidence.
You could try reading Scud: The Disposable Assassin. I've not read it, but it's almost the complete opposite of what you described.
