And I can't agree on Homecoming's placement only because I haven't seen it yet. Though I will say that it's interested me enough that I'm actually going to the theater for it, which hasn't happened for me (as far as Spider-Man movies go) since SM2.

Homecoming pros:
Drawing from USM (wanting to be on the Avengers) without the "scripted wit" feel
Tom Holland was a great Peter, Michael Keaton was a grounded and great villain, and supporting cast (Mainly Ned) was good.
The movie humanized Peter and even Spider-Man incredibly well (and in the early stages, Peter is meant to be the most relatable character in Marvel)
Toomes' hatred toward Spider-Man was done well. He was a pest that was foiling his endeavors. That's all you need baseline for Spider-Man to draw hatred from someone and it worked well.

Homecoming cons:
4 action scenes but a lacking "fight" scene
The ass-pulls of making Adrian Toomes Liz's father and MJ "reveal"(Definitely blaming Sony for that)
>>

I thought that was the ASM franchise. As someone who's neither seen ASM or Homecoming, even I can tell that ASM has far less integrity behind it considering it's sole existence was to retain the rights. Homecoming actually seems like it's trying to be something as it's seemingly interesting enough that I might actually go see it.

ASM is only put above Homecoming because it features a Peter using his brain instead of relying on someone elses. What the actual fuck are you talking about? If there was any car I have seen shown to much it would've be when spiderman steals Flash Ghandu's car but I didn't notice it was an audi, and even if it was, it wasn't really an advertisement as much as it was base on the plot.

On another note though, what would've been even worse was that it would've been a pizza hut commercial given that I see promotion of the movie on the pizza boxes. Thank God they didn't do that.

>>

That "ass-pull" was amazing and raised the stakes for both the hero and villain all in one moment, I don't give a fuck if they change fucking Liz Allen's family structure from the comics.
>>
>>93718996
Didn't Tom Holland's spiderman actually develop the web shooters before he got the suit? I know that Tony Stark made different variants for the web shooters but based on what I saw in the movies (homecoming and Civil war) those webshooters were originally his I think. That being said the first ASM did a great job showing that.
>>
>>93719075
>Didn't Tom Holland's spiderman actually develop the web shooters before he got the suit?

Yes. We see him use them in Civil War. Peter's were more janky and cumbersome. Tony just made a more refined and streamlined version because, unlike Peter, he's got the resources to.

It wasn't made to fill a void that SM3 left. It was made as a save point because if they didn't do anything with the property after a certain time-span they would've lost it and it would go right back to Marvel.

>it ends up being significantly worse than SM3 and hated by everyone to the point of needing yet another reboot

Not everyone hates it, just most people. Kids who were introduced to it first are pretty much the only people who hold it in any positive light.

I don't remember the details, but basically there was a meeting with Sony about what they were gonna do for the next ASM movie and anything else that followed. Garfield was supposed to be part of the meeting, but opted to skip out for whatever reason. The Sony execs who were present for the meeting were so offended by it that they shut down any and all plans that were or could've been slated to happen for the franchise.

If anyone involved with the ASM franchise were enjoying any level of success from it and it ceased when production was cancelled, it's entirely because Andrew Garfield couldn't be bothered to show up for a meeting. He literally killed his biggest role ever.
>>
>>93719613

He took one for the team. Knowing that TASM3 would feature the symbiote with powers to revive dead people makes me glad Andrew didn't go to the meeting.

I disliked SM1-3. I think HC was better than them. Come argue with me, anons.

All that said, "Flash's" character just made me roll my eyes and MJ did as well to a lesser extent only because of the super superfluous connection they had to make between her and the comic character. I liked Ned. He really feels like a big sperg who you're still friends with because you share interests with him and am willing to overlook his other flaws. Glad they didn't insert any "drama" between Peter and Ned, with Peter neglecting Ned just to try and score with his crush. Shows that his problem isn't that he doesn't have a proper set of morals and just puts all the focus on his desire to validate his own sense of self-worth.

One of my favorite things about Homecoming was how Peter declines joining the Avengers. Including him in the team would've been the most obvious thing to do and having Peter decline Tony's offer did a great job of further establishing that sense of duty Spider-Man feels towards his community.

This right here is one of the biggest fails of that series, everything's so damn coincidental and ready for Peter to just walk right into it

I mean, Peter's Spider-origins are by concept coincidental, he's normal kid that happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets bit, but in the TASM movies he literally just walks himself into the "super spiders" room, gets bitten and steals the web idea, just like that. As far as in-universe logic goes he could've stumbled in the mental arms room and mistakenly become Doc Ock just as easily

His gf just happens to work at the labs even though she's an highschooler, his camera just happens to have his fucking name on it, the worker guy just happens to have a perfectly lined bunch of cranes, Peter just happens to break the thing with the train coins and so forth

I've seen people shitposting that anons should accuse Homecoming of the same faults because they're trying to set up the Sinister Six again, but the movie literally just made a couple of criminals speaking to each other, TASM2 introduced 3 ready supervillains in a single hit (one of which, Rhino, was literally a scam as far as marketing goes) and then had a "AND THIS IS THE SINISTER SIX ROOM" moment with mystery man walking next to all the weapons and costumes ready to just have a nobody like Alexei wearing them. What was up with that guy anyway?

It's a damn pop love song being used for a father-son relationship
In what fucking planet would a guy refer to his dad as "baby"

SM2 > SM1 > SM:HC > SM3 > ASM1 = ASM2

This scene feels so...sony. I like the song by itself but it feels so out of place and I can't help but picture those Amy Pascal emails whenever I watch it. It just screams "We're hip!"

Pretty much. The TASM movies are pretty much Bullshit Plot Conveniences: The Franchise

People actually think the cancer that was Spiderman 3 should be compared to literally anything else with the spiderman name on it?

To see anyone even saying that its better than homecoming makes me want to fucking puke

It was a really fun movie. I prefer it over any ASM movie

Homecoming got a whole lot of shit right. It's my #1 now and SM2 is slightly behind it.

garfield doesn't look like a convincing teenager. having him moping around on his bed listening to pop music just looks pathetic, he's a 30 year old man and it shows.

for some reason I cant bring myself to like homecoming I don't know what it is but there is something about it that doesn't sit well with me. I mean I want to like the movie but I cant and I don't know why

Holland definitely felt like Spidey/Peter. Its more the world around him that felt off and very far removed.

I liked Karen but I just feel like she was out of place in the movie

It's about Peter and Gwen. In case that shot of a picture of them together with "Do I have to lose you too" written on it was too subtle.

Wow that totally redeems that scene now. Thanks anon.

t. /tv/poster who hasn't watched ASM defending it just to shit on HC

truly amazing, maybe the dozens of shots of his father didn't help you? Here I'll even point out the exact time 1:02
>>
>>93732912
The prospect of losing Gwen is what galvanized Peter to make his conspiracy wall and the picture at the end exemplifies that. Hell, the sole reason he lays down to angst is because Gwen is moving away.

Why didn't Spidey just date Karen?
