>"Do you think, like, doing all that bad stuff makes us...like, bad people?"
>"I don't think there are bad people. I think good people do bad stuff sometimes"

This is legitimately one of my favorite Adventure Time quotes in the whole series. There's just something about it that I really like.
>>
The Marcy/LSP friendship is underrated.
>>
Man that art style has not aged well.
>>
Isn't that exactly what a bad person would say to rationalize being bad?
>>
>>93691681
If the quote had no context behind it, I could see it as a good thing to think, but obviously LSP and Marcy are doing bad things, and therefor it REALLY sounds like Marcy's just justifying her bad behavior because like a bitch.

>I'm not a bad guy
>I never said you were a bad guy, I said you were a criminal.
>What's the difference?
>I've known good criminals, bad cops, bad priests, honorable thieves. You can be on one side of the law or the other, but if you make a deal with somebody you keep your word. You can go home today with your money and never do this again, but you took something that wasn't yours and sold it for a profit. You're now a criminal. Good one. Bad one. That's up to you.
>>
>>93691659
Neither have I, but I've learnt not to complain about it.
>>
>>93691713
The context is pretty much the exact opposite, she's feeling bad about what she's done and thinking about making it right.
>>
>>93691378
I hate modern cartoon dialogue. Feels like so many are trying to compete with "most inspirational quote of the year".
>>
>>93691964
It's not deep, it wasn't supposed to be, it's more an interesting observation that makes you think a little.

Yeah, especially when it's as shallow as the one OP mentioned. It's not even their fault, AT just doesn't have a lot of good dialogue in it due to sub-par writers. They don't understand the difference between forcing something and just letting it come naturally/genuinely.
>>
>>93691999
You're thinking of Steven Universe. I love the dialogue in Adventure Time because of how natural it is.
>>
>>93692017
Maybe early on in the series but now it's not. And I didn't say it was devoid of good dialogue, I'm saying that it just doesn't have a lot of it.

>Bringing SU into an AT discussion

>"I don't think there are bad people. I think good people do bad stuff sometimes"
This is so obviously false that you can't get away with this line even in a children's show.
>>
>>93692047
>Maybe early on in the series but now it's not
It's the opposite. Not hating on early AT at all, but it was way more forced back then.

If you're like... Ten. Which I guess AT's target audience is. But for an adult? They may as well have said:
"Do you think the world is black and white?"
"No, I think it's grey".
>>
>>93691378
how is she in the sun
>>
>>93692126
The dialogue is more natural now because it's not trying to be funny all the time. Can you imagine an episode like Varmints happening in the first two seasons?

>>93692125
It's not very natural in the first couple of seasons, but it definitely is now.

They can't accept they aren't good people. They can't accept that most people are stupid, selfish, lazy or a combination thereof.
It's time to let go.

>>
>>93692286
You're like, objectively wrong though. You can say that you prefer the dialogue in the first couple of seasons, but it wasn't more natural, as a general rule. In addition to not trying to be funny all the time, there's a lot less handholding in terms of narrating the action and explaining character motivations that was prevalent in the earlier seasons.
>>
>>93691378
>"Do you think, like, doing all that bad stuff makes us...like, bad people?"
Yes and given both of your character's histories, they've been bad people for a while. Remember when Marcy sold the deed to Finn and Jake's treefort for a base and gave no fucks? Finn and Jake wouldn't dare do such a thing to her.

>"I don't think there are bad people. I think good people do bad stuff sometimes"
The Lich, King of Ooo, Ricardio aren't bad, immoral people?
>>
>>93692214
>>93692068
You do realise that just because a character says something, it doesn't necessarily mean that the writer agrees with it right?
>>
>>93692406
Subjectively, and yes I feel it is. Today you've got them milking the more "down to earth" atmosphere and I feel their zany, over the top reactions felt more vibrant and good than today's episodes though I still like most of them.

A bad enough person would believe that, but also a good enough person would believe it too. Characters in shows or stories can be portrayed good or bad, but it's exaggerated to make a point. Most real people are exactly good 50% of the time and bad 50% of the time
>>
>>93692638
>Most real people are exactly good 50% of the time and bad 50% of the time

More like 80% good and 20% bad
Unless you're black
>>
>>93692632
I stand by it. They practically agreed with me too.

>>93692488
>their zany, over the top reactions
>>
>>93692722
It was zany and over the top, crazy, wacky and most of all, natural.
>>
>>93692760
I'm not following. 'Over the top' and 'natural' contradict one another. Maybe our definitions differ.
>>
>>93691378
AT is great, but that's a awful quote. It's exactly what retards spouted when that junkie Whitney Houston died.
>>
>>93692722
>I stand by it. They practically agreed with me too.
no they didn't.

>>93692830
The dialogue in the early seasons was colorful, vibrant and had more energy behind the delivery of the lines. Yes it was more fast paced, but had a natural place in the show and didn't bother that many people unless they already didn't like the show. Dialogue in the current season, and the delivery from Finn feels more, flat than i'd like even in action scenes it feels flatter.
>>
>>93691378
Which episode? I'm to lazy to look for it myself.
>>
>>93691378
This show would be objectively better if LSP was still a joke character.
>>
>>93692881
Princess Day. Marcy and LSP act like shitters to Breakfast Princess because she didn't like what BP said to her IIRC. Bubblegum more or less dislikes LSP as well, they wouldn't dare wreck her place I don't see why BP had to have her kingdom defaced and herself left in the desert if the new show has a more down to earth dont be an asshole approach.
>>
>>93692214
Go fap to your shitty nihilism cartoons, reddit.
>>
>>93692875
I'm not even arguing that the dialogue is better or worse now, only that it's more natural. Take, for example in season 2 'The Silent King.' Finn says "If I defeat Xergiok as King, I can prove to the goblins that an active king can be a good king, but i can't let them know until it's all over." No one would say this in real life, it is solely to explain his thought process to the audience. This would never happen in an episode today.

I still love AT but that moment was a crock of bullshit from them. It was them excusing themselves for being complete cunts to BP because "Lol well even good people are mean sometimes" then they don't give a shit at all, if this was intended to portray LSP and Marceline as anything other than hypocrites it fell really flat.

That episode was pretty boring in general. That song Marceline had was a fucking travesty.
>>
>>93691378
Fuck that episode. LPS was clearly in the wrong and Marcy just played along because "muh punk". Then they go and do a bunch of genuinely horrible shit just because they're upset.

I don't know, I think everyone can be pushed to do horrible things given the circumstances. Most of the people we consider 'bad' probably got a shit lot in life, and it could've been you or me in their position. I guess the point is that everyone has the capacity to do good and bad.

>>
>>93704066
Since this seems to be a point of contention, here's the full conversation exactly as it's said:
>LSP: "Do you think, like, doing all that bad stuff makes us...like, bad people?"
>Marceline: "Uh...probably not. I don't think there are bad people. I think good people do bad stuff sometimes, and, oh, that's bad. But only if you do it once, it's just a mistake, and...that's not bad. I think."
>LSP: *laughs* "Word."
>Marceline: "But...I mean, *sighs* I do think it was wrong to steal this CD."
>LSP: "Yeah, I feel kind of bad about that."
>Marceline: "We should probably mail it back to her."
>LSP: "Yeah. Good call."

and then they accidentally drive into a ditch and bail out of the car at the last moment before it falls and explodes.
>>
>>93704066
What would YOU know about real people, shut-in? Trust me, people like you don't get stories written about them, so no one cares how you talk.
