It's time for the end of the middle.
Walter and Brandon make their stand.
Chloe and her rebellion fight tooth and nail.
Who will make it out of this on top?

This is-

Millar said that the SuperCrooks would have cameos but that never came to pass, and she's done this already.

>>
>>93662285
It's a generational story told in three maxiseries.

The first is called Jupiter's Circle and about the original superteam and their personal lives.
This is the second called Jupiter's Legacy about their kids and how the stuff from the first has caused rifts, detachment, and basically they have to learn how to be heroes.

Yeah. I feel like this is the most complete and competently executed superhero thing Millar has ever done, and it works on a lot of themes he's tackled before but better, but it still has these Millarisms in the action that kinda throw you. Not like I care that much, this had some of the best action scenes I've seen in the whole 4 years it's run.

>>
>>93663998
Likely.
And about an adult Jason since otherwise the structure would be screwed haha.
>>
>>93663998
yeah, i think mostly adult kid utopian finding out about the ayylmaos and also his grandfathers' works, especially skyfox's research into whatever he was into in seclusion. i honestly just hope the new circle is able to run things relatively smoothly.
>>
>>93664212
I hope SuperCrooks 2 is able to tie that into this main saga a bit more. It's part of the family tree, and with the new status quo - it'd be interesting their dynamic/
>>
>>93660260
So I went back and read that myself and the sequence is:
>Skyfox produces a wave of flame to throw back the younger heroes
>Brainwave hits him with a more concentrated flame and incinerates him
Quitely makes it clear the flame on Skyfox is more intense, and the dialogue is about Skyfox sitting around getting old. I think George really did just not come up to par - it makes sense. He'd truly retired, whereas Brain-Wave had been using and refining his superpowers constantly. He might've had more raw ability but he was too long out of practice to win.

When I read the issue first, I just assumed it was a dupe. But reading this one and thinking it's not, it's not as bullshit as I assumed either.
>>
>>93664276
Can you tell us which characters are standing beside the others when Chloe gives her speech?
>>
>>93659961
Yeah, One is the Wanted Earth (where Wanted, Chosen, MPH, Marvel 1985, Kick-Ass, Nemesis, Secret Service/Kingsman, and Superior happened) and the other is the Jupiter's Circle/Jupiter's Legacy Earth (where Supercrooks also happened).
>>
>>93664366
where does Empress, Reborn and Starlight fit in
>>
>>93660022
That's not what "sonic boom" is, Millar. Sonic boom is when something goes superfast. Speaking of which, I'm supposed to believe she couldn't take off into supersonic flight and create a sonic boom this way? Come on. That's just dumb.
>>
>>93664415
All on Wanted Earth.
>>
>>93661433
How can you shield yourself from teleportation with an external shield? What kind of shield this even is?

I mean, damn. Millar had ten issues to establish rules and laws and stuff, and extra twelve with Jupiter's Circle, and we know almost fucking nothing. Logic of this world is criminally underwritten, just saying.

Also how did they release the criminals? I'm supposed to believe that Supermax, this super-duper-impossible to break out of-prison had a 'release everyone' button just lying around? Without even something like two-man rule?

How the fuck did noone BEFORE break out of it? That's just bad writing.
I knew Millar will need to do some heavy bullshit to wrap up the entire series in one issue, but that's just extremely disappointing overall.
>>
>>93660232
So is SuperCrooks in the same universe or not? Because I'm confused.
>>
>>93664578
>How can you shield yourself from teleportation with an external shield?

It's a star trek shield.
>>
Wait a second, was the sonic boom thing a reference to the sonic boom gun Skyfox used to incapacitate the giant squid monster from the first issue of Circle?
>>
>>93664658
Yeah, it is.
The first is set inbetween Circle and Legacy and Kasey, Johnny Bolt's girlfriend, is Walter's daughter.

There's a sly reference in the previous issue that Jack Frost sold Skyfox's meeting table to Johnny Bolt.

>>93664366
I don't like this idea desu, not everything has to be a shared universe and Wanted Earth just makes things messier and ruins suspension of disbelief for series like Kingsman or Wanted, since you have demons/Hell (Superior), aliens (Empress), and some sort of weird afterlife that doesn't really make any sense (Reborn)
>>

Yeah, if you think about it for one second - it makes zero sense haha.

But it's an idea that Millar is very keen on so...you just gotta accept the broadstrokes. Also in Reborn it is revealed that there's a proper afterlife, presumably heaven

Has he ever said Empress or Reborn were part of Wanted Earth? I didn't follow his board regularly in a long time. The only ones I know he outright confirmed were Wanted, Chosen, Marvel 1985, Kick-Ass, Nemesis, MPH, and Secret Service. And at one point Unfunnies was included though I'm getting the impression he's trying to stay away from that.

If it were just those it would still work since covering up is what the Wanted supervillains do a lot. The only wrinkle is probably Superior since the battle would be very public. But if you go by the theory in Wanted that comics are really the creators trying hard to remember the superheroes, Jupiter's Legacy existing as a comic in Kick-Ass 3 would mean that the supervillains' hold has been weakening because the Utopian and Skyfox's villains were all wiped out.
>>
>>93667434
He's said that Empress takes place in the far past, and that he had ideas for a crossover with other properties with Empress.

And basically the overriding feeling is that if the Earth doesn't have the "every other block is a superhero" then it's Wanted Earth.
And I mentioned in Reborn we are shown that there is a proper Heaven-like thing going on.

And yeah, this entire thing gets a billion holes once you try to put it together with any real sense.
>>
>>93667434
>>93665841
Also the demons/Hell thing would fit Superior with Chosen. But not only that remember that in Wanted, Mr. Rictus was a pious man who went evil because he when he had a near-death experience he believed there was no afterlife. And then in The Unfunnies, Troy Hicks said that there was no afterlife, but he was doing satanical stuff. At one point on the Millarworld forums, Millar said that Troy Hicks was one of Satan's friends who raped Jodie in Chosen. Millar since removed the rape part in the new printing of Chosen, but the implication here is that Troy Hicks and Mr. Rictus indulged in evil when they were convinced there was no afterlife.
>>
>>93667546
Also, it's right that Millar has cast out Unfunnies entirely.

It was also notably not included with the Art of Millarworld artbook, and he's pretty much talked up every other bit of his creator owned properties since then.

Honestly, you reminding me of Rictus makes clearer how another pious character in Reborn reacted to the "Warrior World" afterlife. Wonder if she would have renounced her faith as well.
>>
>>93660196

Does this have to do with how all the MIllarverse stuff is connected?

Was there ever a chart on that or anything? Supercrooks is in the same universe as JL from what I recall and most everything is fictional to the Kick Ass Universe.
>>
>>93667633
Only Circle, SuperCrooks, and Legacy are fictional to the Kick-Ass universe.

Everything else is in the Kick-Ass universe.

And yeah I made a chart up but it became silly to use it since "Earth 2" is just one series and a spin off.
>>

So not so bad.

yes, etymologically speaking, but it originally meant "fictional place", and evolved into "fictional place that is ideal". striving for a utopia does not necessarily mean fucking things up, as long as people who are striving for certain ideals are mature enough to realize that the path is progressive and overnight changes won't have strong enough foundations to support said ideals. having said that, i'd love to read a story where a ridiculously powerful group of meta-humans like the jupiter's circle infiltrate the system and force progress through both inspirational acts and subterfuge, instead of wearing clown clothes and parading around and chasing after petty criminals.

wait wait wait. so was there really a afterlife in wanted and what is connected to the wanted universe

Everything but Jupiter's Saga and SuperCrooks.
Also not Unfunnies because Millar has banished that.

And yeah American Jesus and the ending of Reborn reveal there is a legit afterlife beyond the setting of Reborn.

Who really knows?
It's one of those things that doesn't really check out.

Either Rictus should have gone to the "Evil kingdom" in Reborn, or just Hell if he was bad.

There ain't a nothingness. Just one of those things that doesn't work when ya put them together.

We can only hope he doesn't die before completing it. Sucks when that happens.

Depends on who draws it.

It's not going to be Quitely.

Really? THIS is what you consider to be one of the best cape comics currently ongoing? Hell, Astro City blows it out of the water in that regard.
>>
What a surprise, another Millar comic that ends up being completely generic. And again, the only thing of note about this book is the art. Why is it that Millar only has two styles of writing? It's either edgy, juvenile shit or completely generic movie pitches in comic form.

Thanks Dave, the hero we deserve etc.

FUCK YES THIS IS THE BEST THING I'VE SEEN IN A COMIC ALL YEAR
>>
>>93673215
yeah i agree, this is really mediocre

Honestly it was pretty good. Millar seems to be finally outgrowing (or at least tamping down) on his edgelordy bullshit. There's a lot of brutality in this comic but compared to even the stuff Millar used to do in Ultimate Marvel it feels a lot less gratuitous and much more in service of the story.

That said, there wasn't a ton of stuff I didn't feel like I'd seen before. Lots of dudes getting anticlimactically ganked, powers all taken up to 11, last-minute reversals and the stuff I've pretty much come to expect from a Millar/Morrison Joint over the last 15 years.
