Great 90's fun. One of the better written comics, features a more accurate-to-the-films Godzilla. Lots of awesome new monsters and villains. Well worth the time.

Awful. Read the story summaries on Wikizilla or some other website. Not worth the time.

Decent. As the title implies, it's a mob story mixed with kaiju. Recommended.

Regularly storytimed for a reason. Crazy trip of a series with a few bumps but overall worth a read if you like insane stuff.

Another anthology-styled ongoing featuring Godzilla...well, raging across different time periods. Worth a read, if you're into time travel shenanigans.

Pacific Rim's for sure.
I didn't buy the ones for Predators or Transformers Dark of the Moon or Iron Man 3 or RED but I've read them.

Deep down they're all okay at best, NONE OF THEM ARE NECESSARY. They tell you nothing they wouldn't eventually explain in the movie itself. On a few rare occasions the prelude comics fill in the gaps by making up stuff that will never be used in the movie or won't fit the continuity of the movie. I don't know if that's due to the comic makers not given enough info or changes in the movies script early on or some other bullshit.

All that being said, the prelude comic to Godzilla 2014 is pretty alright. The MUTOs are a lil different (in the comic they seem more like a hive collective of small black bits instead of solid monsters like they are in movie).
I'd say if you're wanting to have ANY Godzilla comic you're better off with something else. But if you're wanting to get it to be another addition to your ever growing Godzilla collection I think you'll be satisfied.

Annoyingly, the term "MUTO" describes any kaiju in the Legendaryverse. The one in the comic is officially known as Shinomura and is separate from the monsters in the 2014 movie.
