What's wrong with that? To me, that just indicates that they did right by the character by putting him in a street-level, character driven story which doesn't try to raise the stakes of the MCU at large and isn't weighed down by obligations to other movies. I'll be all too happy for the movie to be a self-contained and inconsequential romp rather than a crude attempt to lead up to something bigger and better.

I was somewhat looking forward to this one, until it was clear over a year ago that Tony Stark would have a major role, and it would be more of a teen comedy, and most of Spidey's supporting cast and love interests would be racially replaced (I guess Peter only gets a hard-on for negresses in this version of the movie universe). So I can easily save my money on this baby.

However, it will make quite a bit of money. 350m domestic and 800m-1 billion worldwide. Sony will respond by making Jameson a gay Indonesian midget in Spider-Man: Summer Vacation. Or whatever awful title they give the sequel.

I'm rewatching amazing spiderman 2 on netflix and honestly I don't think it's really possible to make a downright crappy spiderman.

The action scenes are always interesting and kind of just write themselves and from the trailers homecoming clearly has them down.

I mean just go watch the time square sequence in ASM2 an objectively mediocre film. It's actually really solid.
