Why doesn't modern animation in TV or film deal with tragic morals anymore?
It still can sometimes.

Disney's The Little Matchstick Girl is still the most heartbreaking thing to come from the studio.
Apparently they went back and forth on the ending, before realizing the original was the only way to go.
>>93584744
Because that's the new trend
>>93584744
Because it doesn't sell.
At least not at the moment.

I mean, If you can call chirin a tragic moral instead of chirin's endless fuck ups.
>>93586633
How was it a fuck up? He was angry and relatable, trained hard and developed a kind of Stockholm syndrome, then redeemed himself before he killed innocent sheep.
I wouldn't say he fucked up, more that he was trapped in a shitty situation.

>fuck ups
He was an innocent kid whose mom died and went chasing vengeance. In pursuit of vengeance he found a new life and a new parental figure, only to doubt his new life at a crucial juncture and end up killing his new parental figure, who held no animosity or hatred for him.
He could not return to the life of his childhood, and he had rejected the life of he'd built for his adulthood. He had no one who could understand him and was left to wander by himself.
The moral was revenge is a fools errand, because it will consume you and even after achieving it, you'll more than likely feel empty as the person who wanted the revenge likely won't be the person you become to get the revenge.

No the moral should have been; dumb as fuck sheep don't get make decisions, because they will always fuck it up. Always. They're sheep, they were born sheep and there's nothing they can change.
Revenge turned into justice is amazing when applied by intelligent people.
Speaking of bluepilled aesops, has there ever been an environmental message which wasn't told from an ecologist's point of view obsessed with trees? They could simply say that without trees we run out of oxygen and die. That would be more realistic.

It's not 90's anymore. There are plenty of tragic morals in everyday life of modern kids.
>>93591634
Much more than that goes wrong though
>>93591634
>don't get make decisions
Because children are fucking pussies nowadays.
steven universe
>>93593845
that's coz the older generations in charge of the product treat them as if ur bullshit statement is true
coz touchy moms from all over time will never stop coddling their kids until cartoons get as saccharine and brainless as they were in the 80s
>>93584744
DA TOVARITCH, WE MUST TEACH THE CHEELDREN WHAT SUFFERING MEANS, WATCH THIS COMRADE...
>>93584744
Chirin was being a little bitch. He couldn't even commit to being a wolf and instead slaughtered his papa
>>93584744
kubo last year dealt with accepting the death of your parents
zootopia dealt with racism
Steven universe (whether you think it's done well or not) deals with grief, loss and a disturbed family.
F is for family deals with pride messing up your life.
Bojack Horseman deals with depression and the corruption of fame.
But sure buddy, the animation doesn´t deal with tragic morals.
