The plots and adventures that they go on are pretty entertaining to watch, but the humor is too try hard.
Remember in the late 00s and early 10s when LOL RANDUMB ECKS DEE, rage comics, and "the cake is a lie" memes we're all over the place online? That's what most of the ""jokes"" in the show are like, stuff like "grass tastes bad!", "Wubba lubba dub dub", and and the szechuan sauce gag are all pretty much t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m material.

>The B-plotline with the failing marriage of Beth and Jerry is boring
>The animation's sub-par (acceptable since it's an Adult Swim original)

Dan Harmon gets his dick sucked so much for "muh deep emotional subtext" but he's not that good at it. I will admit Season 1 worked alright with dark endings but Season 2 kind of dropped the ball (Rick saving Morty in A Rickle in Time was such a real moment and then it was ruined by "fuck you god a wyb a lub a dub dub").
Also some of the humor is a little forced but the main problem is the fans, they take something I smirked at and turn it into something I wish had never been created.

You guys should see his documentary. It's mostly for fans and somewhat one giant ego trip for Harmon but does a good job of showing of how messed up the guy really is. He has anger issue's and has been fired several times for going too far with insults.
