Why aren't there very many "cartoony" games

Video game cartoon adaptions don't really sell well unless it's the same quality as the game. Or the network it's licensed to treats it like shit like pic related.

games today (in sony and Microsoft anyway) go for realistic and edgy games with motion capture. There's not much room for cartoony mascots i games anymore except for nostalgia. Nintendo is keeping up cartoony games though.
