I've never liked the idea that Gotham and Metropolis are right near each other. It makes no sense. This is my favorite proposal for Gotham's location.

Metropolis is canonically in Delaware and Gotham in New Jersey. Both are primarily modeled after NYC but they have taken inspirations from other cities like Chicago, Detriot, Tokyo, Toronto etc.

I thought Central and Keystone City were Missouri/Kansas respectively.

And as you said, it got blown the fuck up. By all accounts there's really not many people living there currently.

As analogues to cities I like Gotham being a Philadelphia equivalent if Metropolis is New York: same weight of history compared to NYC, still a huge metro area on its own, close to NYC in physical geography, has a shitty mini-version right next door (Bludhaven-Wilmington).

Central City to me is Kansas City, Coast City is Los Angeles, Star City is Seattle, Gateway city is San Francisco, and New Venice is Miami as well continuing the analogues stuff.
