How does Crossed survive solely off of sporadic decent writing and goreporn? Is there really that big of an edgy market that buys this?

Apparently not anymore, given that it ended a while ago.

Shittier garbage than this has sold far more.
Crossed survived off of all the variant covers. They were usually better than the interiors

I thought badlands was still going, you're right. Either Crossed are supposedly in Mercury Heat too, so seems like they're not going away.

I think Mercury Heat ended to.
Lapham's stuff is the best part
There's decent writing in crossed?
I only read the three minis and they started at kinda bad and got progressively worse

I thought the first 3 chapters of badlands was pretty well done, with the guys in the snow or something. It's less about gore and rape and more on story, but then after that it goes back to the same shit. I dropped it there.

Stories were VERY hit or miss, and the last half of Badlands was pretty miss overall. Same thing every apocalyptic story suffers from: boring unlikable survivors talking too much while the main threat is barely there.

Some of the Badlands stories are pretty good, and Wish You Were Here, while not amazing or anything, had pretty good writing and one of the few complete story and character arcs in the franchise.
100+ is garbage

Just finished Family Values. Uh.. it was worse than Crossed and just sort of ends. They tried to be more complex with more characters, but it kind of just fell flat on it's face.

just if you're going to be edgy, go full fucking Millar on meth

>100+ is garbage
I thought I was reading a poor translation when I tried reading it. Alan Moore is so far up his own ass he wrote something no one can actually read.

I get what he was going for, but if he couldn't do it without it being shit he shouldn't have bothered doing it in the first place.
Crossed was good maybe 1/3 of the time (Usually when Ennis was writing). But I dunno, I found something addictive about it, I have every badland trade and I for the life of you couldn't tell you why I bought them all. When the series was good I genuinely think it was brilliant. But man it was mostly garbage, I guess the anthological format always gave me hope that the next one would be a winner. And whenever I was just about to give up on the series the next one would have a dope story. Crossed was mostly goreporn for sure. But I dunno, it had potential that it met every once in a while.

I don't even want to get into badlands. I can't invest the time to read 100 issues.
>I found something addictive about it
I know what you mean, more like morbid curiosity and hopes the next chapter won't be shit.
