It's no IDW TMNT. The only purpose this comic series had is keep reminding people Sally, Bunnie, Nicole, Lupe, etc. exist so more porn of them got made. And even then, it doesn't compare to the thousands of pics of pornography that the Videogame Sonic Gals get.

Let's be real here. Sega pulled the plug because of the extra round of litigation, Archie had no choice in the matter. If Archie didn't want Sonic, they wouldn't keep such a tight lid on things and would come right out and say the comic is done.

If Archie claims it's not the "direction they want" it is nothing but damage control. Why would they ever turn their nose up at another comic under their care, it's pure gravy to whatever other avenues of income they are getting. It would never impede Riverdale or whatever the fuck making them money.

Plus why end it so abruptly, for that matter? They could have chosen a much better milestone to stop after if it was something completely under their control.

In most continuities he's born with super speed as a natural ability and Chaos emeralds empower anybody not just him. In the Fleetway comics he got his speed and blue color in a lab accident.

Archie revealed his parents, his father was fatally injured and roboticized by his brother (Uncle Chuck) to save his life, but ended up making him a mindless robot since Robotnik tampered with it. His mom was captured and roboticized later. They showed up in present day sometime after issue #50 with their free will restored but still roboticized. Many issues later his mom and Uncle Chuck were de-roboticized, but his father wasn't since restoring him would also restore his fatal injuries.

Thanks to new Sega mandates his parents were deleted from history.

The fall DID start with SEGA unpleased after the extra round of litigation, but rather than pull the plug, they decided to raise the price of the licence to force Archie to quality control their shit.

Archie, however, did decide it was low priority because Riverdale is re-freshing the Archie brand in their eyes so they now think they "don't need Sonic".

You forget the current CEO of the company has as MASSIVE hard-on for the Archie comics, and ever since his strugglings to shoo the other CEO (Aka "Penis-yelling Lady") from the creative control he has been constantly bluttering how he wants to modernize Archie. As such, the fact that Riverdale exists and is doing well is basically his fucking dream come true.

So basically, I think its 50/50. Archie's ego rising up due to Riverdale AND because SEGA picked up on their bullshit.

It actually predates the SatAM cartoon by nearly a year, initially using prototype designs, then gradually incorporating elements/designs from the show itself while it was on the air and afterwards. Then it just never stopped running, became a bit closer to the games after Adventure, a bit more closer after gaining its current head writer 10 years ago, became MUCH closer to the games after a hard reboot a few years back (but still keeping the SatAM characters and adding in some previously-unused AoStH elements), and now it's finally come to an end...probably.
