Do you think Asian people from Asian countries like /co/? I know they like MCU / DCEU movies but what about the comics? It's great that American comic fans have such easy access to manga, but I imagine it's very daunting for a kid in Japan/Korea/China to know where to start with Marvel/DC comics.
>>
>>93498589
They sell American comics in Japan too. You can get them with Japanese dialogue or just buy the English versions. There's a pretty popular store for it in Akihabara.
>>
Some do, I'm sure, but they have a large selection of homegrown comics with superheroes that focus on a specific interest/hobby.
>>
>>93498659

Are they mostly collected editions? or does Japan actually get single issues? Are the translated versions published in a similar format to the American versions?

I'm also curious whether they like the art styles, coloring, rotating artists, and format compared to manga. I once saw a video where Japanese fans were excited to meet Jim Lee but I don't know if it's a very small niche in Japan.
>>
>>93498791
You americans still don't grasp the fact you're the best at selling your stuff to tne rest of the world.

Japan gets single issues of several heroes for decades now, just like the rest of the world. Spider-Man is by far the most popular western hero there.
>>
>>93499059

Do they translate single issues? If yes, how long is the delay for releases there?
>>
>>93498589
Who cares what chinks think
>>
Even before cinematic universes, it was argued whether DC/Marvel cape comics could overtake home grown media. Led to a bunch heated arguments in early 80s.
>>
>>93498589
I'm an Asian person from an Asian country. What do you think?

>Japanese Spider-Man was the reason Super Sentai and Kamen Rider were created

That will never not be amusing. I love me some Sun Vulcan and Ryuki.
>>
>>93499362

Talk about it, Asian anon. What do you like? How were you exposed to it in your country? Did you like it before learning english language? Do you buy toys? Do you watch cartoons dubbed in your language? What is the fan community like there?
>>
>>93499402

This

There's billions of them. Who care swhat they think? American studios only cate about their basic taste in movies

See: Warcraft and Transformers

>>93499402
Incorrect.
Sentai and Kamen Rider both existed before that. What Spiderman pioneered was adding a giant robot to every team in Sentai
>>
>>93499402
It's sorta true to Super Sentai.

Back then, Gorenger and JAKQ doesn't called "super sentai" but just "sentai". After Supaidaman, Toei created Battle Fever J and started officially called Super Sentai due to Battle Fever J is the first sentai that have giant mecha. I think it was around Ohranger, Toei includes Gorenger and JAKQ in a part of Super Sentai.
>>
>>93499829
>Around Ohranger

It was during Ohranger's flopping that they included those two because they were desperately trying to find a way to keep the franchise alive
>>
>>93499829
>>93499673

Okay, so the correct thing to say is that Spider-Man revolutionized Super Sentai by making the idea of having a Megazord popular, correct?
>>
What was the truth that supaidaman didn't tell the boy?
>>
>>93499508
I was exposed when I started seeing adventure tiime in season 1, was on reddit, then found /co/. Then my first comic book experience was Dugan Pohsein Deadpool storytime and some Captain America here when it first started. And since then, Storytiming of nost marvel and some Supermans. I loved all the "continuity" and the connections with other series of the same universes. Also love me some of the arts and good show of heroism. Jap mangas these days are really just not that full of characters i find heroic. Some like My Hero Academia are exceptions.
>>
>>93499864
Yes and also Battle Fever J was originally gonna includes Captain America in the show but can't due to Universal Television have the rights to make Captain America tv film.

Can you imagine if Disney still owned Power Rangers AND Marvel?
>>
>>93500114

I think the only reason Disney bought Marvel was because they couldn't milking Power Rangers didn't bring them enough profit.
>>
>>93499914

Do the people in your life ask you things like "Why are you looking at those ugly american cartoons and comics when you have better jap manga right here?"
>>
>>93500544
Oh god yes. But it's more like, oh, that's what you're into, and be judgemental. Honestly though, I actually like west, east comics and cartoons, games, amd movies, so it feels bad for them judging me for liking more things then they do.
>>
>>93498589
They don't like it that much. The sell of capes in Japan is quite low.
>>
>>93498589
Is there a /co/ on 2ch? I never thought to look.
>>
The real question is if they're as cucked as we are when it comes to euro comics.
>>
>>93501245

Isn't Hayao Miyazaki friends with Euro comic creators?
>>
The XMen cartoons were shown in the Philippines too, I remember being so hyped to watch an episode at night as a kid. I believe they also had a Batang X movie obviously inspired by XMen. And Casper the friendly ghost movie was in theaters too. I watched Casper cartoons before back in Japan from the cha tapes from the local library.

>There's a pretty popular store for it in Akihabara
The store is literally one small room on the second floor above an idol figure shop in one of the Akiba side streets. If you don't know what you're taking about then you should shut up.
>>
>>93499880
Probably something about AIDS.
>>
>>93501729

Can you tell me the name of this store? I want to look it up.

To give you and idea of size. If the guy with the camera taking picture 1 was in picture 2 he'd be standing around in front of the X or W boxes of comics.

>turning old again
Yeah, the first time I turned old was awful, and it's only going to be worse the second and third times around.
>>
>>93498589
Kids don't read them because manga is cheaper. It's a niche interest there.
>>
>>93502266
Yes, they are one of the two stores in all of Japan that are officially participants of FCBD. The other is in osaka I think.
>>
>>93502269

Interesting. Not sure how this shop stays in business but it's cool to see it exist.
>>
Doesn't Japan love Powerpuff girls? I assume that's why Powerpuff Girls Z exist. And How Panty & Stocky the anime has a PPG inspired style.

おれは日本人です。

The comic universe is not well known to the public. It is mostly through live action, video games, and cartoons that things are seen.

Comics can be found but they're not common like manga. Super niche. Pic related.

As a temperature gauge, look to the pron dojinshi.
>>
>>93503565

Here at 4chan pron doujinshi can be identified by a single panel or line because it is so popular, so it's hard to understand what the popularity might be elsewhere.
>>
>>93502311
According to comicshoplocator.com Verse Comics, also in Tokyo, does FCBD. Those are also the only two stores it has for Japan.

For a person claiming to be Japanese your Japanese is pretty bad.

Wonder how sales are doing there right now.

Ninety percent of stores in Akihabara are a single room either above, below or in between a figure shop.
>>

A lot of places do FCBD

Your japanese is not present at all. And even then, what good is it to write complicated messages if nobody can read it? It's impolite dick waving. And besides. I drop honorifics because I'm drunk and love you motherfuckers very much.

We get what you get but the vast majority can't afford to be buyfags. We do get the cape films a few days early.

I thought you were doing quite okay, comparing to actual shitholes.
