What are the most essential, must-see modern(ish) cartoons? Like "what are you even doing on /co/ if you haven't seen this?" essential.
Maybe not necessarily the best ones, but rather those that everyone knows and everyone has seen.
Avatar the Last Airbender
Star vs
STeven Universe for shitposting

>Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder

>>93486267
You have the wrong version of TMNT listed (though the image is correct).
>>93486267
>Also, inb4 The Batman anon
I'm more disappointed by the omission of Kim Possible. I know The Batman is controversial (unfortunately so, it's a brilliant series), but that one is just inexcusable.
Also, what's with the random departures from alphabetical order making it unnecessarily hard to find anything on the list?
>>93486492
Are you The Batman anon? I'm confused.
And I didn't make the list, just saved it years ago.
Gumball, Batman the Brave and the Bold, Over the Garden Wall
>>93486538
Yes, but I'm also the anon who made pic related.

But they are good
>>93487986
90% of them are shit
>>93486267
List is a little outdated
>>93486141
I really think Generator Rex and The Secret Saturday's are great, based on their villains alone they should get a high rank
>>93488066
I loved the Saturdays episode with the gray dudes

In fact you're both wrong, pic related is the only good modern cartoon. (Not even shitposting here, if someone thinks they found a better one let me know. But the popular ones around here really don't even come close.)
>>93488368
Ed edd and eddy is the sort of garbage you watch when you can't find the remote and you have a crippling addiction to television and can't do literally anything else.
>>93488425
So much this, /co/ is insane to like this show at all.
>>93488048
But that's not a problem, since modern cartoons are trash.
>>93488425
your wrong but that's ok
ed edd and eddy is a certain type of person
the type of person who watches trailer park boys
it does have flaws
but it does things so fantastically well
the cartoon looks like it was filmed on a super 8 camera and has this vivid color burn
one of the few shows that look good super downsized at shitty resolutions 244p
(cartoon network took advantage of this and put episodes on the gameboy advance)
the only other cartoon that looks similar is rocko's modern life another cartoon classic that laid down the foundation for spongebob squarepants
>>93488394
It was great until it went downhill.Star vs. is better.
>>93488515
>ed edd and eddy is a certain type of person
>the type of person who watches trailer park boys
That's funny since ed edd and eddy is literally trailer park boys for kids
>>93488521
Lore is shit and we know why you watch
Keep jerking it to Jackie or Hekapoo or whatever flavor of the month is sticking over there now
>>93486267
the simpsons after season 12 is no worthy, stop at that season.
>>93488521
I just rewatched the whole series. It never went downhill, only uphill in fact.
>>93488565
SVTFOE isn't nearly as good, too lolsorandom (yes, including season 2) and more importantly less comfy. (Still better than utter trash like SU.)
>>93488539
there's a certain kind of wit needed to craft shows like ed edd and eddy and trailer park boys
sure the later seasons suck cock but im talking first few seasons
now before you call me a retard just try and write an basic episode for a show like ed edd and eddy or trailer park boys without doing stupid shit like trite weed jokes like how the boys resorted too in the late season
>>93488653
Meh I quit watching TPB back in 2008, I heard Netflix is making new seasons but I can only like the first seasons where it actually looked like a documentary and had poor video quality
>>93488769
i hear ya i grown jaded with the way they took the series
but i can understand the problem of being aging actors without a director (left and did black jesus) and you have to cobble everything together and sell out big time for easy money
it's like if they did a real life trailer park boys scam
>>93486141
Personally I'd recommend God, Bob and the devil. A heartwarming show that actually manage to put into cartoon form some of the concept of the catholic religion in general which tend to get misunderstood by the general population without coming off as condescending drivel and without any kind of shock humor like modern Griffin and whatnot. Its the story of an average Joe who get chosen as the prize of a bet between the devil and god as in that if god manage to save his soul, he get to paradise but if the devil get his way then God as to admit his wrongs and abandon any endeavor that would help man, which give some interesting result as Bob is a realistic character. Kind of an opportunistic but lovable asshole that ain't dumb enough to become buddy-buddy with the devil but still can't help himself choking himself when his leash get loose, if you get what I meant.
>>93486267
Why is W.I.T.C.H. listed? It's a tween show.
>>93486267
>Samurai Jack
>52 episodes
55, actually. It was sad when he died after falling off that cliff.
>>93487768
Kys already
>>93488565
It may come as a surprise to you but I watch it because I genuinely care about the characters. Not many shows managed to get me this much emotionally invested.
I never understood the idea of watching something purely for porn. Just watch porn for porn.
I'm not even interested in the two characters you mentioned in that way, "thicc" isn't up my alley anyway.
>>93488595
Gravity Falls finale was rather underwhelming to me.
>>93489248
>Gravity Falls finale was rather underwhelming to me.
And most of /co/, apparently. But you're all dumb.
>>93489308
I had never even been on /co/ at that time, mister Objectively Perfect Taste.
>>93486141
As in, post the 07 crash?
Flapjack, Chowder (these two basically set up all of modern animation)
Adventure Time (more or less equally influential as the above, but also can really fucking suck sometimes. Don't get too invested in the plot, and you might enjoy the ride)
Over the Garden Wall (cartoon kino, just watch it)
Sym-Bionic Titan (not as good as the fanboys say it is, but Genndy's shows are always a blast to watch)
Motorcity/TronUprising(rip action cartoons)
Gravity Falls (relatively short with genuinely stellar writing that feels unfinished/rushed towards the end)
Wander Over Yonder (one of the rare examples of a modern cartoon that actually takes inspiration from classic animation principles)
Steven Universe (frequently boring and heavily flawed, easily the most contreversial pick on this list, but imo there's nothing else like it)
Bojack Horseman (character deconstruction that imo ranks up there with some of the best character study that modern live action television has to offer)
Rick and Morty (self-indulgent as all hell, but also wickedly creative with snappy writing to boot).
Batman: The Brave and the Bold (second best Batman cartoon, best DU expanded universe cartoon)
Samurai Jack Season 5 (the ending was rushed, and after Episode 3 Genndy took absolutely no risks with the story, AT ALL, but the fight scenes remain top notch and the fanservice is fun from beginning to end)
These are all the "must watch" cartoons of the 2010s. Not the best, or worst, or most popular, but I think it best represents the highs (and often the lows) of the cartoons released from 08 onwards, with a bias towards cartoons that /co/ tends to like more (action/fantasy/comedy, in that order).
