Become fodder for neocontrarian shitposting?
I like all three shows, but as it is now, they're just perpetuating the state of American animation, as it pertains to shows that aren't intended for children- if it's not edgy comedy aping Family Guy, it's "alternative/stoner" comedy with a healthy dose of nihilism/depression thrown in to make the show seem more mature.
It's not that BoJack, R&M and Moral Orel don't work those angles well- I think they do, they're some of the best on TV at doing so. But I'm ready for the trend to be over, in all honesty. I want to see animation for adults try something different.

Here's your (You), now go back to oncology for your chemo.

How? Low busget animation looks cheap, so you have to play it for comedy. Until somebody brings up the animation bill shit ain't changing.

I know it's (hopefully) just shitposting, but people putting stuff like Bojack and Rick and Morty on the same level as Moral Orel depresses me.

>mfw Moral Orel goes the darkest out of all the series but still has an objectively happy ending
Even now there is hope for man.

eh, early Moral Orel is sort of... okay. some season one episodes are straight up bad
it takes until the camping trip to really get going, and I could see bojack doing something similar, it has the potential (though the latest season doesn't inspire confidence)
Rick and Marty however is dogshit, anyone who compares that to even the worst parts of moral Orel are retarded
Stamatopoulos and Harmon work and socialize with each other all the time so it's no surprise that R&M would have a lot of the same qualities as Moral Orel.
Stamatopoulos is way more talented than Harmon.
The difference between the former and Morel Orel is that Morel orel at it's core had a generally positive message and grounded itself better in problems that people could relate to.
Bojack is stuck being a show about whiny Rich people in fantastically situations, while Rick and Morty is over exaggerates the dysfunctional aspects for laughs and makes the situations to big to really connect and make you uncomfortable.
Morel Orel managed to get uncomfortably close to reality even with it's surreal elements to the point that most of the viewers had probably experienced something very similar to what happens in an episode of Season 3 in their life.
