With Black Cat now in the MCU, does that mean Marvel will finally fix her and give her an ongoing?
>>
>>93306570
I hope they either just pretend the crime lord thing never happened or find some way to make it all collapse and have her start from scratch
>>
>>93306570
Wasn't her dad some sort of crimelord, but she swore not to end up like him, yet Slott went "lol, nope"
>>
>>93306570
>now in the MCU
what? where?
>>
>>93306629
It was Nick Lowe, not Slott. Lowe thought Spider-Man being friends with a criminal was a wrong message for kids.

To tell if something is an editor push, look at how many writers use the twist. Duggan, Leth, Thompson and Bendis have all used evil Black Cat.

her dad was 'The' Cat Bugler. sort of implied to be one of the earlier proto-supervillains. I don't think he was ever a crime lord, just a really good thief.

and Black Cat has a lot of issues about that. She dislikes how it meant he was never there for her mother or herself after he wound up in jail. She dislikes that he never really amounted to anything as a crook either. She felt she owe it to her dad to bust him out of jail. She loves the rooftop lifestyle and it was her dad who introduced her to it. She resents that he never intended for her to take up the same lifestyle he did.

She swore never to become a nobody behind bars like her dad. She swore to Spider-Man and herself never to go back to a life of crime when she started dating Spider-Man, and she stuck to even after they broke up, but all that just got wiped away after OMD

Either these people are too stupid to realize most fans don't like them turning Black Cat into full-on criminal or they know that Sony wants to use Black Cat in a film and they wanted to do SYNERGY by having Black Cat as a villain just in case just like how Silver Sable's getting used more.

Then again both scenarios could be true.

>>
>>93306906
I would have also accepted that "Spider-man is to suffering" but your answer is good.
>>
>>93306779
I guess Marvel thought Black Cat needed to be "wild" again so that her love with Spider-Man would be forbidden like the "old days." Then Marvel comes to the realization that "Spider-Man shouldn't be friends with a criminal. What kind of message does that send to the kids?" So, instead of making her a hero again, they decide to make her completely immoral. I'm sure she has killed a couple of innocent people at this point.
>>
>>93306906

So instead of showing that even the worst person can change for the better and become a hero, they went 'nope, too immoral' and instead reversed the message to show that people CAN'T change. Bravo Marvel, Bra-fucking-vo.

If it's really a Black Cat/Silver Sable movie with no Spidey and barely any connection to the MCU they may as well make it a softcore porn. I expect at least 3 Felicia sex scenes, 2 Sable and one with them lessing out.

I was, and still am, hoping for an outcry on the same level of those mad about Ben Reilly's modern costume. It caused Peter David and Mark Bagley to switch back to the old hoodie. I wish for that to happen for Felicia's character. Sadly, it seems most people have accepted that it's probably not going to be going away anytime soon.
>>
>>93307076
Even worse to realize is that Kevin Smith wrote a better Black Cat than most modern Spider-Man writers. And he was the one who made the idiotic decision to retcon in rape into her backstory.

I can't believe 10 years later I'm realizing Mark Millar and Kevin Smith were better Spider-Man and Black Cat writers than a lot of post-OMD writers.

Also the reason that Emma dressed sexy is because she knew VERY well is that it also served as a distraction.

When is she going to rediscover that Peter is Spider-Man? It's been almost a decade at this point. Same applies to the Green Goblin and Venom. It's moronic at this point. I'm glad Doc Ock and Jackal know, but I have a feeling Slott is going to pull something that makes Otto forget Peter's identity before he leaves his run. I hope I'm wrong though.

yeah, she's actually in a long-term relationship with a woman in MC2. The daughter she'd had with Flash hates that she left her dad. Her 'teen rebellion' about that is to spend way too much time with Spider-Man's daughter and keep demanding to be her 'sidekick'

I generally shocked in general looking back at 2000's Marvel and seeing that their books are miles above in quality compared to current Marvel. Even Fraction's X-Men which was widely panned was still more engaging than the current X-Men crap, and I say that as someone who recently got bargain binned trades of that volume.

Only at the beginning. Eventually Felicia developed and realized how foolish she was. She learned to appreciate Peter just as much as Spider-Man.
>>
>>93306570
Black Cat having her own movie appearance probably does mean they'll reset her to some sort of heroic status. It'll be interesting to see who fills the power vacuum though, she's been a pretty big player in at least six books.
>>
>>93307621
Marvel just keeps dropping quality.
I used to hate Yost's X-Force for being angsty shit that would only appeal to edgy teens. I mean, it's still shit but compared to some of stuff like Mockingbird or America, it's pretty good.
>>
>>93307748
How exactly? Did they fuck with the mask off?
>>
>>93307790
>Black Cat having her own movie appearance probably does mean they'll reset her to some sort of heroic status.

That depends though. The movie is Silver Sable vs Black Cat, so it depends on if Felicia is an outright villain or just an anti-hero.
>>
>>93307682
>>93307748
And then OMD got rid of all that lovely character development and set her back to "I don't care who you are leave the mask on."

Frankly I wish Peter had shown her who he was, because like the F4 he could have given her all her character development and memories of knowing who he was back and then it'd be smooth sailing on the Black Cat/Spider-Man train.

>>
>>93307812
It was mainly after Peter broke things off. Felicia got really mad and stalker-like when she heard that Peter married Mary Jane. She tired to make Peter jealous by dating Flash Thompson. She planned to break up with Flash in a devastating way in an elaborate attempt to hurt Peter. Though Flash stood up for her when some thugs tried to rob them. Even though Felicia could have torn those guys apart herself, she was flattered by Thompson's actions. Then she dated him for real and became friendly with Peter and Mary Jane. Though Flash Thompson would later break it off with her.

No you fucking don't This is evident with dying sales and fans vocally upset with your shitty stories played up for controversy.

>>
>>93307835
Do you think that's the way they undo this mess. A story where Felicia is still ranting about how "the Spider took everything from me" which results in Peter unmasking and snapping Felicia out of it?
>>
>>93307967
That was when David Michelinie was writing, IIRC.
>>
>>93307967
It was during the early nineties when she became integrated in Peter's personal life. So, David Michelinie, Tom DeFalco, and Gerry Conway. Peter had a bunch of titles at this point. Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man and Spider-Man Unlimited.
>>

>>
>>93307926
>This is evident with dying sales

This is funny because you can see people pop up to go "Nuh uh! Marvel is beating DC in sales!" and then point to the Diamond charts hoping no one knows that the charts represents what retailers order and not neccesarily what readers buy. And then it turns out the Diamond charts are padded by Marvel doing overshipping and things like that.

Marvel got too overconfident because they easily beat DC for a long time and figured they didn't need to listen to fans.

that was a knee jerk reaction against anything she felt threatened her lifestyle. it came at a point where nothing was actually obligating her to keep being the Black Cat. her dad was out of jail, her criminal record had been wiped, and she's having the time of her life traipsing across rooftops, occasionally punching some muggers

and then Spider-Man takes his mask of. and he's just this completely normal guy. and its like someone suddenly cut the music at a party which is usually followed by everyone being kicked out. Fun's over, go back to your normal boring life. and Felicia didn't even have a normal life at that point. she considered herself Black Cat compltelty. To suddenly be reminded that they're just regular people wearing masks made her realize that if she's not Black Cat she's nothing.

and just to make things more confusing, its been noted time and time again that Peter acts differently with the mask compared to without. When she says she loves the mask, she's not saying she'd love anyone wearing the mask, she's saying she fell in love with the man he chooses to be while wearing the mask. and its frankly disturbing to see all that confidence and charisma just fall out of his voice and his mannerisms when the face comes off. and that's normal. the first mis-step in nearly every relationship is getting used to how people act when they're at home rather than in public
>>
>>93306668
The term they use is 'adjunct'. The Venom and Black Cat movies are going to be like the first seasons of the Marvel Netflix shows in that they have some tangible references to the MCU and can potentially cross over but story wise are being treated as independent. This is way different from Homecoming, where Tony Stark boarders on deutertagonist status, with the Vulture's grudge primarily being with him and Spidey getting in the way of his revenge.
>>
I think they should mostly handle it in the MCU the way they did in the Spectacular cartoon. But I would also like a scene where one of the veteran heroes finds out what's going on and desperately tries to explain to Peter why it's not going to work out. Bonus points if it's Black Widow.
>>
>>93308159

Ever noticed how some people make many of his love interests older than him? Like Betty is older than Peter in some continuities (Spectacular's the obvious one, Spider-Man: Chapter One makes it clear that she's older than Peter, Ultimate Betty is also older than Peter but doesn't really interact with him, Marvel Adventures Betty is also older than Peter and is more like an older sister/friend to him) Ultimate and Spectacular have an older Black Cat. And now Spider-Man Homecoming has Liz Allen being a senior while Peter is a sophomore. And then there was that time Peter dated Carol Danvers.
>>
>>93309139
>there was that time Peter dated Carol Danvers.
a 28yo dating a 34yo isn't really what most people would consider a notable age gap

He's an ephebophile magnet?

>Black Cat now in the MCU
Not your call to make, Amy
>>
Black Cat is best when she's teaming up with Spider Man for hijinks. I wouldn't be against seeing her trying to get used to Miles.
>>
>>93306668
It's just Amy Pascal shooting her mouth off as per usual
>>
>>93309203
She's currently an enemy of Miles.
>>
>>93309807
Why?
>>
>>93309864
Because she hates all Spider-Men, apparently.
>>
>>93309879
That makes no sense! Wait, of course it makes no sense, I forgot Bendis and Slott were doing these things.
>>
>>93306570
Why did best girl have to get screwed over?
>>
>>93310026
It's so moronic. Black Cat goes to Hammerhead and gives her pitch about taking on Miles. She goes on and on about how they can't really take on the old Spidey because of him hopping around the world with Parker Industries. Instead Cat asks Hammerhead to take on Miles so they can take down A Spider-Man. Even though Miles has done nothing to either of them to consider him a threat to their business. They go after him just because he's calling himself Spider-Man.
>>
>>93307030
She honestly does come off as a joke in most of her villainous appearances.
>>
>>93306570
They might do one or the other. I wouldn't count on both.
>>
>>93308159
What was her reaction to the wedding originally???
She was happy for him???
>>
>>93311264
She didn't know he was married, she was travelling the world at the time. At the time she came back to Peter's old apartment she found out that Peter was gone (he and MJ moved to a new apartment).
>>
>>93307451
Fraction's run made me cancel my Uncanny X-Men subscription after many years, but even I can admit it's miles ahead of some of the drivel we've gotten in the past 5 years. Gillen and Bunn have been the only competent writers I've enjoyed post-Fraction.
>>
>>93311322
Then when found out, what she did???

Will crime boss Cat lock Peter up in a sex torture dungeon?
>>
>>93307185
To be totally fair, since Spidey is writed like an idiot for over than a decade now, all of his cast/related characters are writed similar.

I'm in the minirity that thinks Felicia is better bad, though.
>>
>>93312349
>thinks Felicia is better bad
Why?
>>
>>93312465
She was stagnant post-OMD, her appearences was without brightness and boring. It looked like she was only existing.

At least being bad she's having some spotlight.

Personally, now Spidey and SpOck are separate individuals, I'd like to see Otto tell Felicia he was actually hating the wrong guy and notice how stupid she is for basically getting bad for spite, but not changing her current ways.
>>
>>93312564
>Otto tell Felicia SHE
>>
>>93312564
Better to exist than to suck.
>>
>>93312349
Villain Felicia isn't a wholly terrible concept, but the way it came about and the way Slott wrote her, it's just all totally retarded. Slott it just really shit when it comes to writing love interests. He's ruined all of Peter's relationships with his various love interests. Even the ones he made himself.
>>
>>93312659
I can imagine her running a smuggling operation but not much else.

>>93307289
Yeah but feminists hate attractive women because they themselves are disgusting landwhales. Or so I believe.
>>
>>93312759
All that stuff Emma is saying sounds good, but I wonder how true it really is. It's fine to be confident in your body and want to show it off. Empowering, even. But barring attempts at seduction, how could it possibly be useful?
>>
>>93312834
Distraction. I mean when you see Emma Frost, what is your first impulse?
A) Punch her in the face
B) Lick her boots

I know what my answer is.
>>
>>93312848
I don't like her and haughty arrogance turns me off so my first impulse would actually be A.
>>
>>93312759
Fuck, I want to get down on all fours and polish her boots with my tongue.
>>
>>93312862
It's okay to be gay, anon. I don't judge.
>>
>>93312886
Thanks, anon.
>>
>>93306570
That would certainly be the desirable outcome. The worst case is that Marvel makes her extra evil.
>>
>>93314161
I'm fine with her being evil so long as she retains her playful personality.
>>
>>93306744
Hope that is not the case.
>>
>>93311645
Oh, ok thanks, now I wonder why could she try to make him jealous if he was already married to other woman(???) I mean is not logical right?
>>
>>93316294
Felicia hoped Peter would come running back to her. If that didn't work, her plan was to hurt Flash and make Peter feel guilty about it.
>>
>>93316470
Ah, Felicia the cuckolder.
>>
>>93316470
I've seen covers of a couple of What ifs (I think they work as one?) where Peter marries Felicia instead of MJ or something like that, this What If happens around the same time of all this stuff with Flash and the wedding and all???
>>
>>93317433
No, the What If happens when the enagement doesn't happen and so the wedding doesn't happen. Then Black Cat comes back sooner and Peter decides to marry her.

Come to think of it that means OMIT makes even less sense than it does.
>>
>>93309139
Well, with Betty it's that you've gotta remember she's a product of her time. It was perfectly normal for folks, especially girls, to forego school and join the workforce in the 60's. That just ain't the case nowadays. So we expect Betty to be an adult. Meanwhile, all the arrested development fuckos controlling Spider-Man demand he be a high school kid. So you end up with a weird, artificial age gap between Pete and Betty.
>>
>>93317828
They could probably make it work if Betty's only like 2-3 years older than Peter at most. Like during Peter's first year as Spider-Man, Peter could be 15 and Betty could be 17-18 (maybe even 19 if you want to stretch it since Marvel was willing to imply Miles/Spider-Gwen) so it would allow her to be a secretary at the Bugle and the age gap between her and Peter isn't that prevalent.
>>
>>93318997
Or we could just stop doing high school Pete again and again and again.
>>
>>93319032
That would be my wish but we know they're gonna do it over and over.
>>
>>93307925

Wait, so Black Cat fucked Peter's friend, a guy she didn't even know or care about, just to try and make Peter jealous? And people ship this woman with him?
>>
>>93320325
Well it's Marvel, if you have been not "cucked" at least a couple of times then you are not husband material.
Just look at Blackbolt.
>>
>>93306668
Spider-Man can play in the Sonyverse. But the Sonyverse will never interact with the MCU.
>>
>>93306570
She's so beautiful
>>
>>93320325
Don't be too hard on her, anon. She was hurt and jealous, and like all women tend to do every now and then, she got a little catty.
>>
>>93320325
Well, she eventually did grow to care for Flash Thompson as a person instead of a tool for revenge. However, that is initially how it started, yes.
>>
>>93322810

Isn't Flash the guy who cheated on his girlfriend with a married woman and then slapped the shit out of her when she confronted him about it?
>>
>>93322833
Yep. Flash has had quite a few rocky relationships.
>>
Slott hasn't even used Cat since 2014. He just messed her up and let other writers have their way.
>>
>>93325419
lewd
>>
>>93307030
Big Booty Broad syndrome
>>
>>93307552
Many writers probably had fun stories in mind for Black Cat before Dan Slott decided to mess it all up for everyone.
>>
>>93321144
Yep
>>
>>93308360
Those plans for season 3 of spectacular sounded really good. Especially with Spider-Man and Black Cat reconciling and going back to their old dynamic.
>>
>>93309107
That would be the best way to go.
>>
It's just Catwoman. Why Marvel wasn't fucking sued for this shit tier character is beyond me.
>>
>>93331319
Because she's inspired by a manga character and her relationship with the hero actually makes sense and is believable compared to Catwoman having romantic relations with Bruce of all people.
>>
>>93331417
>her relationship with the hero actually makes sense
Does it tho?
>at least comparable to Catwoman having a relationship with vruce of all people
But it's the exact same thing.
>>
>>93331483
Spidey is pretty relaxed when it comes to superheroing so I can imagine him not having many problems dating a cat burglar. Bruce is always a super grim hero who arrests pretty much everyone who apprehends pretty much everyone. His relationship with Catwoman makes no sense because Selina never changes and still commits thievery wherever she goes.
>>
>>93331541

So, basically you actually know very little about either character. That's fine, but why bother voicing an opinion about them at all?
>>
>>93331541
>Batman is grim
Nah m8, Batman is nearly as hopeful as his BFF Superman.
>>
>>93331541

So....it's just more believable for Peter to be a hypocrite?
>>
>>93331626
Yes.
>>
>>93331541
Batman and Catwoman's relationship is all about the Chase, two physically perfect specimens sharing intimate rooftop moments where it's usually just them alone in the night.
