Are there any comics that use violence and/or gore as valid plot

bumping incase anyone has any suggestions

Hedge Knight is the best example I can think of. There's only one particularly gruesome bit a guy dies slowly from a nasty head wound that isn't revealed until his helmet is taken off., and the execution is well-timed and has a significant impact on the story.

Given the prevalence of violence in comics (and media in general) there arguably aren't enough unexpectedly gruesome consequences. But for whatever reason audiences don't seem to accept gore except when it's done totally over the top.

We're getting there though, All of the great Guro Porn Artists right now are American / have picked up an semi american style / work entirely in English. We'll have some true guro comics someday. I'm working on a guro porn webcomic will be out in a year or so.

Hopefully the love of death will be mainstream in the west one day then we'll see what American writing and imagination can bring to the genre
