Why did Rucka have to make Dr. Poison much more lame than usual just as the movie comes out with the superior version?

I hope they don't make Veronica Cale the villain in the sequel

She's hot atleast.
Also to be fair Dr. Poison's look in Wondy is in large part helped by the setting.
The whole creepy porcelain face masks seems like it was more popular Pre-WW2. So costume designers used it. If this had been a WW2 movie she probably would've been a Japanese woman in the typical surgical get up.
