Well if we're going to extrapolate outwards from what the show gives us, then Homer has been rich, almost to billionaire level, multiple times. To be fair, if you are a Homemaker with high standards who doesn't half-ass the duties can add up to more time and effort then people assume, if you actually take it seriously as your "Job" you will basically try to keep everything in pristine condition every day, including the garden (In other words, you mow the lawn yourself, and make sure every tree is healthy, and pick the fruits/veggies/berries and do the work to a good yield), and make long-cooks instead of fast-food/TV dinners (Which includes processing the Fruit/Veggie/Berry yields into lemonade, jelly and other shit) and baking bread and cutting up meat gotten from hunters, go over the family economics and see what costs can be cut, etc.

That was how my mom was when she was "stay at home" anyway, not that i would expect a "modern" woman to have half of her skillset.
