How essential are final forms and finishers are in /co/ related

Can't think of a western show that does it as much. Just translated and repackaged Japanese things where they have that single super special move that actually stops the monster.

Although most western shows are not going to have the heroes murder a monster each week like that in the first place. That might be why.

If your final form is your most powerful resource, why bother with any of your intermediary forms? Why not just skip straight to the final form and finish the fight immediately?

It also makes everything repetitive as fuck. Sentai rangers always defeat the monster by merging into a super robot. DBZ characters always defeat the enemy by going to top level Super Saiyan.

Everything in between is just filler. And they never, EVER deviate from formula.

Final forms are a cheap way to grab plot escalation. They're heavily relied upon in shonan animes and usually have zero draw backs. However in terms of writing, it ruins the need for support characters and threats over time. Look at DBZ. Towards the end, non of the characters matter because they're useless in a fight. They hit the peck power early in the series so they couldn't play with the main characters. It was a huge mistake that I think Toriyama acknowledged at some point because Super is trying to make Power Level's and final forms not as important as skill.

Western action cartoons usually go with "full potential". The final form isn't something that happens, it's something that's usually teased throughout the series: the Avatar state, Ben 10,000, the Capbearer, etc.

The character achieves it, rather than unlocks it
