So I'm planning an X-men campaign for a table top rpg. Its set in the Days of Future Past setting. set after the arc in the comic so everybody just assumes Kitty and Rachel didn't change the right thing. Eventually the players will find a time machine and go back to before Sentinels take over to try to stop the bad future.
They can either try to alter or stop an event or person or find some macguffin that they bring back to the future that would let them destroy the Sentinels while running into superhero hijinks (alien invasions, a non-consensual trip to Murderworld , make a bad first impression on a hero etc)the Marvel time travel rule "time travel just makes alternate timelines" is in effect so they can't alter their future but the players won't know that.
/co/, I could use your help in making a list of macguffins that would helpor think would help fightthe Sentinels or an event or person to alter/kill/etc.
Infinity gems/gauntlet?
Norn stones?
Cosmis Cube?
Pym's Garage opener of doom from Rage of Ultron?
Killing Magneto so the humans aren't so scared?
Exposing Shaw as a mutant so Sentinel production ceases?

Depends on what type of theme you are going for. If this is the old Marvel rules killing isn't a good option as it fucking their karma.
I like layered stories so you could have them find a McGuffin to go back in time and make that a arc before having them go after Shaw only to find out the production has been taken over by someone else due to Magneto being Magneto. Then they have to race against the clock to stop Magneto from whatever and in the end it is happy days for all because they save the day and the government stops the manufacturer, because of the all mutants are evil Claremont trope.
I'd make it a bit darker and have a twist at the end that nothing changes due to fear that mankind has over mutants, it's just delayed. I'm a faggot like that though.

They'd be from a shitty bad future so Karma would be more about staying true to their personal beliefs than the standard do-gooder in happy times. (points for nice guy stuff but no karma loss if it was needed to survive).

If the latter, read them all and they only touch up on time travel briefly in the last one and its "Make up your shit" mixed with "its the same but the Mutants are the oppressors and the humans are fucked and Sunspot is evil"
