Higgins clearly has a favoritism with Tommy, but I at least liked that there are individual issues dedicated to single rangers like issue 5 on zack and issue 10 on billy. Reminds me of the episodes where one ranger would face a dilemma

I take issue with mmpr being only nostalgia. I agree that it is cheesy writing and a product of its time, but anybody would be lying if the green with evil arc wasn't one of the best arcs ever. Plus the ONLY 5 part arc that was very serious

The rangers get their asses kicked consistently, get cut off from zordon, plus Jason is kidnapped and forced to face goldar and Tommy unmorphed

As someone who hasn't really given a shit about Power Rangers since I saw the first couple seasons years ago as a kid, I'd say it's been pretty solid. Yeah, Tommy receives the mot focus, but not in what I'd call an overwhelming sort of way. Most of the other Rangers have had at least some focus throughout. Then again, it really depends on how little of Tommy you can stomach. The current arc is definitely all about Tommy with some focus on Billy and his feelings of inadequacy.

Honestly, Tommy has being a walking mcguffing since issue one. Tommy is cool and all, but I don't he actually have a personality in the comic.

And, if anything, I find it's Zack who receive more focus of the other five (nigga became a resistence's leader in the alternate timeline and have a grugde about not being appreciated or something).

By the way, why is Tommy popular again? He's cool and all, but I think he was popular in the original series only because he was the first to have a diferent/upgraded suit.

Tommy was popular because he was a renegade. As a Power Ranger, he was evil, and as a student at Angel Grove High, he didn't bother with toeing the line to be a good little community service kid like the others. There was also a perception that he was stronger than the others, since he fought the whole team and held his own, if not winning outright regularly when he was evil.

After he joins the team, he retains none of those traits, but he keeps the suit and the associations that come with it. It's natural that he's still popular. And it's also natural that the White Ranger isn't nearly as well-regarded (though he's still popular to a degree).

Personally, I just started to like Tommy exactly when he became White Ranger. It looked like his final progression as character who started as villain.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I just got my copy of volume three as well, along with the newest Annual (the Finster story is so well-drawn and creepy). Looking forward to reading the trade once I have everything finalized for our first vacation/hometown visit in almost two years.

It's pretty basic stuff when it comes to comic books. What really gets me is that it is alternate universe, but it really is dependant on what you know from the tv show instead of starting from the beginning. I mean, not even 12 issues in and they are already trying to pull the "I'm you but evil" card with Drakkon. Every 5 issues seems to be when they make something "different"

"Perfect" is preobably the best story put out so far.
