Clark Kent had a newspaperman wedding. It was Clark marrying Lois, not Superman. At the time of the wedding, Bruce may have been his boss. They certainly didn't socialize so Bruce WAYNE wouldn't have made a lot of sense as a best man for a public wedding of two newspaper reporters.

Likewise, Bruce Wayne marrying Selina Kyle, a Gotham socialite, would be a society wedding, so a newspaperman from Metropolis would be an unusual best man.

Dick is his ward, and Alfred is his Butler, having either as his best man would be strange. It would make sense for it to be someone like Lucius Fox or some other contemporary and Gothamite equal.

I've actually been thinking about the wedding and stuff all week, and at the very beginning my thought was that this is going to turn Catwoman into a waste of space and destroy her character.

But over the past few days it's dawned on me: WHAT character? Everything that made her interesting as a character has gradually been removed. She's not a criminal any more. She doesn't really play cat and mouse with Batman. There's not the air of mystery over what her identity is any more. She doesn't even act particularly sexy any more. And, if we're being honest, there wasn't much to her character to begin with. She's been "Batman's love interest on the other side of the law" for so long that they did almost nothing else with her, even as she's gone through several solo books. And what little those books DID do to her has, again, been removed.

Either making her Mrs. Bruce Wayne or killing her off may actually be the only route left to take her character. Unless they want to do something drastic.

I agree with this.

To me it seems like the best course would be to have them get married, move in, then both of these solitary people gradually realise that living together for the long haul is a hell of a lot different than fucking on rooftops in costume. Neither of these people is great at relationships, and neither of them is likely to be keen on couples counseling; and you can almost never have 2 people like that getting married without it causing major problems.

So once the glitter wears off, he'd start getting bossy because he's not great at sharing his personal space. She'd get pissy at his attempts to be controlling, and they could lapse back into how their relationship was before as relationships often do. They'd start growing apart, and Selina's old ways would reassert themselves as she realises that having shiny stuff just handed to you lacks the joy and excitement that stealing it brings. She'd start stealing again, Bruce would get pissed because muh justice etc. He'd give her the ultimatum to give up stealing forever or gtfo. She can't not be who she is, so she walks out. Both end up more emotionally scarred and their habits even more stubbornly entrenched than before.

It'd be realistic, would reestablish the necessary tension between them with no need for a reboot, and could be handled in half a dozen issues or less.

DC'll never do it, or they'll do it in the dumbest way possible.

TL;DR I think they should get married and divorced but I'm not holding my breath.
