Is having a diverse and multi-cultural cast a need for an animated picture?
Not particularly, talent and skill trumps all. I'd rather have an all white cast of extremely talented artists, animators and writers over a multi-cultural group of people that are all mediocre. But assuming all those diverse people were hired because of actual talent, then sure why not, who fucking cares.

I think he's talking about the characters, not the people who work on it,

If it fits the story.

If you need it then you need it, but you don't need it just because you want it.

as long as the movie is good then nobody will care
but assuming your movie was gonna be good whether or not you had a diverse cast, and adding it wont harm the quality of the end product, then why not?

No. See: Anime.

I liked when diversity meant group of made of one asian, white, black, india and cripple. Unlike today when there's shoehorned gay or trans in the background and they literally use word "diversity" and praise it as if it was greatest thing in the world.

Cast as in characters, or cast as in voice actors?
