The Amazons are the weirdest part of her backstory because writers keep changing their society. They range from a female utopia to an evil matriarchy depending on the writers.

Her character has been mostly consistent. She is a force for good but she starts out as not understanding how society works because of where she was raised. Of course she gains a better understanding of society as time goes on.

Because people don't know how to write someone that is both a warrior and a compassionate believer in rehabilitation over punishment.
