>He Saved Their World Once, It Needs Him Again...
Duke McQueen was never given a chance.
He was a hero every where else but at home.
But fate is about to give him one last go around.
That's the thing about classics, they don't fade away.
This is-
Starlight: The Return of Duke McQueen
And here we go,
Inspired by this storytime of Reborn
>>93051768
Aw yeah, this is the good stuff
ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME !!!!! ASTRO BASE GOOOOOOOOOoOOOOOoOoOOOOao
What an age of heroes.
>>93057855
sequel and/or prequel when
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEAjTVOdWCA
>>93057934
One of the best Flash Gordon stories in modern times.
>>93057936
HELL YEAH!
>>93057941
Sometime later this year.
Millar finished writing it last summer.
Fuck, I love this book.
>>93057958
Same here.
Parlov makes all of this so heartwrenching
The worst part is that these two are believable,
The original art had their designs be more blatantly Flash Gordon-y, but they changed them for probable legal reasons
Perfect.
Oh these two...
Although he comes off a bit worse.
Part 2:
wherein there's no place like home
Ain't Space Boy precocious?
Poor kid.
Still fits.
>>93058366
wtf that kid is just asking to get assfucked
Don't that beat all?
Part 3:
wherein hail Kingfisher
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLqhhyvxJL0
They got a lot of mileage from that statue
Brilliant.
>>93058278
>draw a girl
>call it a boy
Why is this allowed
Eyyyyy Space Fonzie!
Part 4:
wherein breaking out is hard to do
Parlov is pretty underappreciated
>>93058851
so the kid is a batman
>>93058035
Why is Superman using a ray gun?
Ready to lead, Duke?
I fucking love this page.
Fonzie, you piece of shit!
>>93058960
They got a couple BSG vipers there
Part 5:
wherein now or nothing
>>93057855
Man, I can't stand Millar and his works are so overrated, but this is a fantastic comic, especially the first issue. I just can't believe Mark "Everyone needs to swear" Millar wrote it.
>>93059093
Just goes to show you can't pigeonhole Mark.
I won't defend everything he does, but I will defend the things he does that are good.
Space Boy knows his shit.
>>93059093
Millar is good when he wants to be.
>>93059314
Reborn surprised me after the boring nothingness that Empress and Chrononauts were.
It didn't surprise a lot, but it made me hopeful for Secret Service: The Red Diamond
When the chips are down
And all hope is lost...
You can count on one man to even the odds
>>93058278
I like that he's not an annoying little shit like most kids in comics are.
Final Part:
wherein let's set the mood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfmrHTdXgK4
>>93059459
I liked this one and reborn.
>>93058329
Fucking Hala star
>>93059474
I'm a bit more lenient so I rather liked Secret Service and MPH a fair amount.
Nothing on this level, but I like Millar's little humanity beats that carried through those and this.
MCQUEEN IS ALLIIIIIVE!
Duke, you madman.
Legends never die.
Did jupiters legacy ever finish
Kingfisher should have boned up on his myths
>>93059673
Got postponed until next month or august.
Forget which.
COLD
BLOODED
>>93059782
>tantalus is off limits
>not the planet your savour is fron
>>93058638
oh thank god, he can fight
>>93058644
aw damn
That's the hardest thing, getting family around the table.
>>93059917
I love this comic.
Seriously, its really good. I usually don't care for Millar's work, but this is excellent.
So, yeah, that's what Starlight meant all along.
It's still the best thing about this fantastic read.
>>93058096
Omg, I swear I'm not gonna cry....
Duke McQueen, this is your life.
You've earned it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX45pYvxDiA
The End.
See you around.
>>93059962
Thanks for the story time, Dave.
>>93059962
D'aw.
I hate about 90% of Millar but that other 10% is really good.
>>93059962
Thanks Dave
>>93058715
>Wes Adams
Adam West?
Goddamn this was great.
>>93059198
The /ss/ vibes are strong with this one.
>>93059962
this would make a perfect movie
I genuinely love this story
fucking Millar, kicking me in the feelz
>>93059325
Space Australia
That was a really nice story.
>>93058086
Panel 20s linework and colour is based on one of Moebius' final works, panel 4 is slightly reminiscent of Arzach, arguably the most famous moebius work.
>>93059962
Pretty sweet read. Thanks Dave.
>>93058960
Those shield generators are your target General Veers.
>>93057855
This is good shit.
Great story.
>>93059962
Optimistic Millar is best Millar
>>93057855
I swear to god there's got to be two Mark Millar's. There's the uterus bomb and evil dick Millar, then there's this Millar which manages to deliver some emotionally deep love letters to superheroes and science fiction.
>>93059962
Got goosebumps reading this. Thanks Dave.
>>93062130
Fug. Can we have a Moebius thread sometime soon? So influential. An incredible talent who continued to make a mark throughout his entire career. We need an art thread.
>>93058541
Yuke, yuke, Duke Fleed
Tobe, tobe, Grendizer
>>93059962
I'm a little teary eyed
can someone convince me that this isn't one of the sweetest comics to come out in years
Goran Parlov is underrated.
>>93059939
Sometimes Millar pulls his big boy pants on and shows us what he can do.
>>93058990
>Bender in the background of the first panel
hue
Thanks for posting this. Millar is always so hit and miss. He is usually great with concepts and terrible with the follow through, but this was fun the whole time, and it actually had a satisfying ending for a change.
This artist really suited the work as well. Fantastic stuff.
>>93059917
legit tears
dammit Millar
Seriously, who thought he was going to die at the end?
>>93065719
I thought there was a good chance. I'm glad to be wrong.
>>93059314
>I'm just pretending to be retarded!
Fuck Millar.
Damn this is the first book I've ever bought based off a story time. This shit is fucking amazing
>>93058974
Punished McQueen
>>93058113
Jesus christ dude
>>93059917
This makes me miss my grandpa.
>>93060871
It's being made into one.
>>93068833
Millar wants either Brendan Fraser or Mel Gibson.
>>93068851
>Brendan Fraser
Millar could end up unfucking his shit up. He's gonna make it bros.
>>93068890
This.
>>93057884
very moebius
>>93060871
>this would make a perfect movie
>he said
>about the bloody obvious movie pitch
The HELL, you say??
>>93059047
Oh shit.
