I think her biggest problem is that she's consistently the least interesting thing in her own book. Killer Folk and Kree Kid (or whatever his name was) were all more interesting. The whole inhuman angle actually feels really tacked on as well, why can't it just be a story of a girl and a dinosaur? See the problem is it's a character who is clearly for young kids. Her intelligence is cartoonish, her adventures are simple and just for fun. But Marvel bizarrely tries to promote and integrate her into their grounded, morally gray superhero universe.

That's Marvel's problem, they can't just say "this stuff is for kids, this stuff is for young adults, this stuff is for fans of the movies, this stuff is for hardcore fans, this stuff is for adults". Everything has to be marketed to everybody.

That's how I felt about their feminist books as well. Mockingbird being a crazy feminist book or Patsy Walker being for crazy people who like boring stories is fine... but why even pretend they are set in the main Marvel Universe? Just make them stand alone or create a line of books for the feminist market they are pretending exists. Both Mockingbird and Patsy Walker have had implications of "this isn't canon" but they ALSO had issues clearly labelled as Civil War 2 "tie-ins", which was bullshit.The Marvel U has supported a lot of different genres, but there are limits. Especially with books where the artstyle is completely different than other books (Squirrel Girl and Patsy Walker being prime examples). I only read the first 2 arcs of Moongirl, but the stuff that ties is to the larger Marvel Universe are the weakest things. From her being inhuman to Hulk showing up, it's all... who cares? Just focus on the core of the book, because the rest is just a distraction.

Marvel likes to pretend they're "taking chances", but they're hiding behind the safety of the shared universe, hoping it'll force fans to buy issues of books not aimed at them at all.

I am saying they should be another universe, but in the same way Marvel Adventures was. That way Patsy can have all the guests ever, and She Hulk being blown up doesn't effect that book at all, because... why should it? If there are people who actually buy and read Patsy Walker, then blowing up She Hulk is just a shoddy attempt to get them to read Civil War 2, and the rest of the Marvel Universe, which is NOTHING like Patsy Walker in tone or artstyle. Mockingbird (at least Cain's run, I know others have done oneshots or such with her lately) might as well have been set entirely in Bobbi's head. The Civil War 2 tie in there was the WORST, because not only was the hook trying to find evidence to help Hawkeye in his trial, it was published AFTER the CW2 issue that declared the verdict to that trial. Not to mention there was no evidence, it was all a ruse by Phantom Rider II (meaning the whole scenario was not actually connected to CW2, and didn't need to be to make the plot work) and then Bobbi's rape as retconned into an affair. Which, I assume any future writer will just ignore (and a sensible writer who didn't like the fact that Bobbi was raped would just ignore that as well, as that's how comics work). But Marvel likes the attention they get by forcing books aimed at new readers to clash so completely with the books aimed at long time readers.

Nah, I really don't think she's fixable and a big part is her demographic sorry but child super geniuses is kind of a bad position to be in because they're fundamentally boring.

They cant have a child in a bloodbath and with the stakes at a lower level then whats the point of her being the smartest ever? Just to sell books, and its comics lets be realistic most of the readers are boys, are the boys going to be enthusiastic about buying a comic about a little girl whose super smart and has to be taken super serious even though shes like 11? Both of these are true. She's written for a younger audience so when she's in the main comics, which far more people read, she comes across as an obnoxious, know-it-all little shit without context. Her comics aren't my bag at all but kids love 'em and I think it's important to be building that fanbase early.

I do have a problem with this whole ranked smartness shit being used to justify boring as shit legacy characters, though. I actually liked Riri's backstory but it was just dumped and her name's dumb so I couldn't get into it.
