Am I the only one who finds it silly that DC is purposely trying to change Captain Atom so he resembles Manhattan less? Considering Manhattan and the rest of the Watchmen characters were based on DC characters why don't they acknowledge that fact? Having Doctor Manhattan and Captain Atom meat would be great.

Because one is a highly known character even to casuals and one is a C/B lister to in-the-know fans and is invisible to casuals. No need to market Captain Marvel when you already got Superman.
