Why doesn't Marvel work with Asian artists that much? I've seen artists like Acuna and Francavilla for their international pool, but I think Gurihiru is the only prominent artist they've had over the past decade or so from Japan.
Talented Japanese artists get better credentials in their field and get paid better to draw native content.
Korea is a similar situation.
China doesn't fucking care about your god damn Americlap comics.
most of them could do their own shit in their country, why would they work for hire on another one?

Marvel can't afford the exchange rate.

I thought Mangaka's were notoriously underpaid and overworked?

Animators in the Anime market are the ones that are working literally slave wage works, like it pays better to work in the fucking McDonalds there than being an Animator drawing inbetweens and shit ... with Mangaka it depends, they dont exactly being paid a salary if they are serialized by a magazine, if they are doujin artist ("indies") then that is another whole different ball
Sana Takeda and Kia Asamiya both did a lot of Marvel work.
Go Nagai was also friends with Jim Steranko and Stan Lee considered him one of the best artists working in comics.

Do you have any idea how many Filipino comic artists there are?
>>93006440
Didn't Marvel basically sponsor all of them?

You're gonna make more money serializing comics in Japan overall than if you get a few commissions from Marvel. Part of the "bad pay" is the high cost of living.

DC hires even less of them. They have pic related cover artist sometimes but I'm drawing a blank on who else is currently employed by them.

They've got Dexter Soy and Billy Tan as well
