Opinions on all four (five?) Donner Superman movies?
Let's please avoid comparisons to the DCEU. I just want a comfy thread.

There are only two Donner Superman movies.
Superman and Superman II (Directors Cut) and they're both brilliant. They understood that the best part of any Superman story isn't the action but that at the heart of it, Superman is a romance story.

Coencidentially, I have the same opinions on them that I do the four Burton/Schumacher Batman films.
1: Good overall, but with a few dumb moments.
2: Less good than the first, but a strong villain helps it stand out.
3: Just awful and a chore to watch.
4: So bad its good.

I meant the Donner incarnation of Supes.

I must disagree with you III for me was so bad it's good while IV was irremediable garbage, it may be because I watched III as a child and didn't even knew the existence of IV until I saw it casually on cable a few years a go and had to check the internet to confirm if I wasn't having a fever dream about it.
Just this sequence makes III better than IV in my opinion

1) Great until Camp Luthor shows up.
2) Almost perfect, save for Camp Luthor, and the final scene in the diner
3) What happens when a really good script gets compromised by a special guest comedian.
4) Have I mentioned I don't like Camp Luthor?
