Does anybody remember the show Martin Mystery? It aired in the early 2000s and nobody I know personally seems to remember it. It was one of my favourite shows growing up.
>>
Wasn't it a male discount Totally Spies?
>>
I remember one episode ending where Martin made Diana cry and laughed like a dick.

Also Mom and Jerry from Totally Spies were a thing.
>>
>>92953953
pretty sure a lot of people remember the show.

just not enough to warrant talkbacks when current or more popular stuff gets the spotlight.

probably one of the few attractive women in western animation to get slapstick abuse.

honestly, i liked it more than totally spies when i was a kid.
>>
Doesn't Diana become a monster girl in the finale?
>>
>>92954013
It was way better tahn Totally Spies. Each monster had a neat design.

I hate when western white bois try to draw anime like series. This show also like most 90's cartoons didn't have any soul to it. Characters and humor felt flat like hannah barbera cartoons. Every action was pointless since you never cared for any character. Pic related is a good example of good cartoon.
>>
>>92954146
No, IIRC that was Mom.
This was not the finale finale since Billy got a human form later IIRC.
>>
It really got me into horror as a kid. It just did it so well and I can still go back and see lots of greatness in it.

Same. It gave me some good scares, too.

I remember this show. My whole family watched it.

Martin Mystery just suffers from 90's animu syndrome where the expressions like >>92954118 is irregular/autistic as fuck
fix that, polish the animation, and you got a decent cartoon
>>
>>92953953
I remember watching it but I don't remember if I liked it or not.

Martin Mystery. was one of my favourite carttons as a kid.
alongside Team Galaxy and Totally Spies.
the scarecrow episode legit scared me back then

Fun fact, in the comics Martin and Diana are fucking, for some reason they made the half siblings in the show

I had a thing for Diana.

Also why did they change Martin and Diana from a couple to siblings? Because there definitely some GwenxBen level of sexual tension between those two.
>>
>>92956754
That's a good point. Where DID it air? On that Nick periphery that also aired kappa mikey?
>>
>>92956754
>>92957060

it aired on nick and nicktoons network
>>
>>92953953
it was actually pretty good, a hell of a lot darker than gravity falls.
I still want a true mistery/adventure/horror cartoon, it has never been done right

mostly on nicktoons network i add

have you ever seen a toy company try to market a toy for girls to boys?
like those easy ovens you could also use to make scary monsters or doll companies making action heroes?
>>
>>92954013

No it was a lot better and then later it got pretty intense. It went from a little interesting light spooky stuff, to genuinely spooky shit.

At one point a portal opened with a huge amount of scary demons coming out of it.
>>
>>92955715
i always assumed the step siblings thing was a localisation decition or something like that

I dont know, but martin was hot

>>
How is Diana skeptical of all things supernatural when she works for an organization that specializes in investigating the supernatural and is directly involved in missions?
>>
>>92957984
She just wanted to be contrarian.
>>
Loved it more than TS. I wish it had more than 3 seasons, they could of introduced more urban legends/scary stories from around the world that way. I'm genuinely interested in that.
>>
>>92957304
Seconding this, this show was pretty good and I wouldn't mind having a copy.
>>
>>92953953

I remember it existing but I never watched it because it looked lame
>>
>>92957303
What are the reason for those seperate channels anyways? Is it for shows they're not sure won't die immediatly? For experimental shit? Or is it just where they drop off what they want to kill?

I'm still mad nick gas is dead. Do satellite packages still sell that channel with constant reruns from the 80s and no commercials?
>>
>>92956985
Should bring this up when we have another Ben 10cest thread.

UNDERAAAAAAAAAAAGE!

Come back when you remember Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
>>
>>92959323
It's more of the fact that it's a weirdly similar circumstance. Martin and Diana in the original were lovers while Ben and Gwen were supposed to be unrelated, both changed in the actual cartoons ,but still kept a bit of good old fashoned weird ship moments.
>>
>>92956754
I'm pretty sure it only aired in Canada.
>>
>>92957304
It's a Canadian cartoon, so it's super easy to find on youtube.
>>
>>92956754
>>92957060
where I lived in Canada it was only on YTV. But I think the only cartoon channels I had other than YTV were teletoon and disney.
Side note, on the topic of nostalgia, anyone remember those "Disney Adventures" magazines?
>>
>>92954013
I LOVED Martin Mystery. Can't ever find the comic that spawned. They were by the same company that did Totally Spies. They was even a crossover episode with Martin and the spies
>>
>>92956754
I think it was briefly on 4Kids.
>>
This show was so good. I vividly remember the episode with the giant germ monster and the one with the siren in the fishing village.
>>
>>92954013
There werent as many fetishes than in totally spies.
I remember Diana going bald in an episode.

My introduction to this show was a Passage comic about Diana remembering being raped by various aliens and monsters to figure out which one got her pregnant.

Never saw an episode but the porn catered to my fetish a lot so it must be all right.
>>
>>92953953
>That opening theme

>>
>>92953953

I'm confused. Never saw this show, does it have anything to do with the 1982 italian comic?
>>
>>92964855
In name only.
>>
>>92964855

I don't know. Looking at that cover and the image in OP's post, I'm smelling an unacknowledged ripoffish reboot.
>>
>>92964855
>>92964886
It is technically an adaptation but it has almost nothing to do with the original.

Characters are in highschool/college age instead of adult, Martin and Diana are step siblings instead of lovers, it plays more like a mystery themed Totally Spies for boys (and arguably better written)
>>
>>92955450
Ah, the Tennyson Complex.
>>
>>92953953
I did.

I liked the atmosphere, although the dub in my country was awful.
>>
>>92959546
Nah, it aired in Europe. Well, in Poland at least. I remember really liking it, though I can hardky remember any specific scenes or episodes by now. There was an episode with some cybernetic demon which really fucked me up as a kid.
>>
>>92953953
This show was pretty great, I remember watching it all the time during summer. The sister could be a cunt at times, the alien was kinda annoying, and I felt like Java got kinda screwed out of focus episodes, but Martin was a pretty good protag and everyone had their own skills and weaknesses. And MOM was pretty great, same as Jerry from TS.

Was there an animated renaissance in France in the early 2000's for all these great shows or what?
>>
>>92965173
It aired in Brazil as well, not sure about the rest of Latin America.
Totally Spies was a big hit here (or at least very well liked by the tv network) so they brought everything similar Marathon did in hopes of achieving similar success.

LMFAO, not only is the show in the OP not at all like anime other than the visuals, but the show you posted is a terrible example of what you're claiming, and vastly overrated overall.

When Western animation ACTUALLY decides to go animesque, you get brilliant gems like this.
>>
>>92959595
That... doesn't follow at all! Most Canadian cartoons are LOST MEDIA.

>>
Recently rewatched some of it. Most of the jokes are pretty bad, at least in the early episodes that I watched, but it was good overall. and seemed to be getting better over time. Wish the comic would get an English translation. Weebs can manage to translate dozens of forgettable harems that don't last 12 issues before falling off the face of the Earth because literally no one cares about them, but all these big name important comics have gone over 30 years with the only translation being a small fraction done in the 90s.

You mean being closer to their actual designs beyond colored bandanas? And being a more accurate adaption until the movie made them meet the actual Mirage Turtles?

The Thing homages are always nice.
>>
>>92971015
I'm not sure what you're trying to say there, anon.

It's not nearly as anime as you think, also the Turtles animation was controlled by Konami for years, so them using actual eastern animation studios was to be expected.

When I say animesque I'm primarily talking about the writing. I care much less about the art style, as long as it at least somewhat resembles anime.
