How did Sausage Party go from a movie predicted to change the animation industry itself to something NO ONE remembers?
>>
>>92952748
It was a tire fire of a movie.
>>
>>92952748
That food orgy at the end probably had something to do with it.
>>
>>92952748
Because I've been hearing cartoons say "fuck" for at least 20 years now, and it's not a joke anymore. But this movie treats it like a joke.

It's not an adult movie, its what a 12 year old mght think an adult movie looks like
>>
>>92952748

The people in charge of making it were complete rat-bastards.
>>
>>92952748
>predicted to change the animation industry itself
When the fuck did anyone ever say that?
It was predicted to be a shitshow from the moment the first trailers broke and there was a literal food orgy in the leaked script from the end of the movie.
Nobody ever expected it to be good and it met those expectations spectacularly.
>>
Turns out the well of 'look a dick joke' isn't interesting or compelling when the internet exists.

Must be why Jews hate it so much, shock humor is all they have.
>>
>>92952824
it was fucking supposed to fucking show to the fucking world cartoons are not for kids or pedos and for grown ups too.
>>
>>92952898
With an orgy?
>>
>>92952748
It was ahead of its time. In ten years time, it will be looked back upon with the same level of kino reserved for such films as Citizen Kane, The Thief & the Cobbler, and Henry & the Hendersons.
>>
>>92952748
Food orgy

>>
>>92952928
no with its fucking adult content. How often do you see a fucking animated movie that just says fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
>>
>>92952998
If all it takes to be considered "animation for adults" is to drop as many f-bombs as possible, I think the world will get along fine without it.
>>
>>92952748

This was never the case. Never.

ok it's also violent as shit and super dirty with sex jokes and scenes.

The main villain is also called fucking DOUCHE
>>
>>92952898
The first one in a pixar-esque visual style, maybe.
A goal that doesn't really has much impact to it, anyway.
>>
>>92953212
So it's edgy tryhard trash. Gotcha.

I don't know why "adult" translates to "teenager" so often.
>>
uhuh

NOBODY REMEMBER MOVIES ANYMORE

Seriously, HOW 4chan didnt noticed it yet? You gays say this to EVERY MOVIE.

Hell, it doesnt even work like that, you guys expect every movie to be Star Wars, otherwise it is "forgotten".
>>
Camille Tuh should've gotten a nude scene.
>>
Because the only memorable thing about it was how controversial it claimed to be by being an R-rated animated movie.

Which is nothing new.
>>
>>92952898
Adult Swim already does that with better content. What this movie had to prove is that edgy, adult-oriented can work in a theatrical release. It *can*, because the movie made bank but nobody really followed suit. The only thing this movie seems to have influenced is the new kind of outsourced animation pipeline that Captain Underpants did.
>>
>>92952748
Youngsters I know enjoyed this movie.
>>
>>92952748
>NO ONE remembers
I am sure people will at least remember the sex scene in the end. That sure was something.
>>
>>92952748

tried to be too artsy and deep with the ending
>>
>>92952748
This came out less than 10 months ago. Animated movies take longer than 10 months to make. Whatever effect it did or didn't have, you won't know for at least another couple years.
>>
>>92952898
So it supposed to show the world cartoons are not for kids by being extremely juvenile? Its something a bunch of 13 year olds would shit out in a hushed voice with a giggle afraid mom might overhear them.

>Hehehe a hot dog is like a *giggles* penis hehehehe
(repeatedly puts hotdog in bun and takes it out again)
>Hehehehehehehehe its like sexy times

Movie for adults sure thing buddy
>>
>>92952748
it got blackballed for not paying it's animators and threatening them all and forcing them to work extra hours it still didn't pay them for and then removed them from the credits of the movie.

Shit didn't go down too well with the rest of the industry so it wasn't publicised as much as it could have been. And was quietly taken out back and shot.
>>
>>92952998
>fucking adult content
How does orgy not qualify? Oh yeah, its as immature as it gets.
>>
>>92953259
It's a marketing strategy. It also creates manchildren who think that they are acting mature.
>>
>>92952748
>predicted to change the animation industry itself
Why do you believe marketers and their shill friends in the media? This movie looked like trash from the very first trailer and surprise surprise it was.
>>
>>92954841
She was an inferior waifu anyway.
>>
Every joke in the movie revolved around the word "fuck." When someone said a joke on screen, it had the word "fuck" in it. The movie was made exactly for people with no sense of humor, people who find swear words funny in themselves.

During the entire movie, my girlfriends family died of laughter at every single thing. Almost nothing in the movie was funny, but they ate it up. The orgy, the weed, the swearing: they laughed at every bit. I remember leaving and my gfs mom asked her brother if he liked it, and his exact words were, "Best movie ever." And he was fucking 18. God damned humanity is ruined, man. Don't even start with the whole, "everyone's sense of humor is different" shit, because it's not taste, it's pure ignorance and poor sense.

The movie was fine, it could have been a lot more terrible
you faggots didn't even give it a chance and just have the same opinion as before watching the movie and for adults you all really get fucking triggered by a bunch of swear words

you don't see threads about Storks and Trolls here anymore too, animated movies always will just be forgotten
>>
>>92952799
Seth Rogen directing it might have more to do with it tho.
>>
>>92952824

People on /co/ were actually saying it would pave the way for more adult oriented cartoons, and were even comparing it to Ralph Bakshi's stuff. I wonder how those anons feel like right now.

the only thing Sausage Party had going for it was BIG NAMES, a fucking nobody trying to pitch an animated movie for adult audiences won't have a chance in a million years
>>
>>92964572
Hey, Nerdland was good.
>>
>>92952748
Shit, I saw people make youtube videos or big rants about how IMPORTANT it was that Sausage Party did well. "It'll prove that animation isn't just for kids anymore!" was the normal nonsense. It was all delusion.

Look at pathetic posts like this: >>92964180
Maybe the anon he's replying is a big full of himself, but this is just a BAD argument. A channer, even a total newfag, being "offended" by a movie made to "offend" normies? The whole point of the movie is that it's "so shocking" that they had these cartoons curse and fuck eachother. Who cares? We make cartoons curse and fuck eachother all day, and a lot of the shit here is more "offensive" and outlandish than Sausage Party. It's a movie that goes out to prove something that doesn't need to be proven. It's pointless and ineffective, and that's not even counting the shit about them screwing the animators.

And then there is the deflection. "You all just forget movies! Sausage Party did FIIIIINE!" Bullshit. If it was good people would remember it more. If it was good people would talk about it besides remembering how much it was mediocre. It's also just a way to give yourself a backdoor when you're proven wrong. It's kinda pathetic.
>>
>>92964691
>We make cartoons curse and fuck eachother all day
>We
massive cringe
also no one cares about the 4chan audience because they usually just pirate their entertainment
>>
>>92964742
Well, I've actually drawn shit on /co/ back in the day, nigga, so cringe all you want. Why the fuck would I care about the opinion of a Sausage Party fanboy who is deflecting AGAIN!

You know you can't pretending the movie was fine so now your tactic is "no one cares about the 4chan audience". So? Why are you even here if your argument is "I'm so fucking normal, you guys are weird since you can't understand why a hotdog saying fuck is SOOO FUNNY!"

This is a 18+ site, kid. A cartoon saying fuck isn't going to make most people here laugh.

>>92964907
You're getting awful upset over this. It's just food that fucks. I mean, I'd understand if the movie had some profound impact on your life or perspective on the world... but I can't imagine a scenario where that happened.

So, you tell us: Why does the opinion of a bunch of "edgy wannabe basement dwelling cunt(s)" get you so steamed up? What makes you say the movie is "fine"? What merit does it have besides being an attempt by Seth Rogan to cash in on the hard work of a bunch of animators while making a mediocre film?

>>
>>92968442

Yeah, I liked the Douche. Especially with the food/product puns, like the light bulb and the Queso. Hated most every other character though.

I actually enjoyed the movie. Of coarse I wasn't sober when I watched it so that's probably it. Couldn't stand the food orgy part at all, or the sex jokes. Swearing isn't funny anymore, its not edgy, its just the way people talk regularly now, unfortunately.

>>92952748

>>92952748
The way that the studio treated the animators cast a dark cloud over the movie. We'd be seeing more announcements for adult-oriented animated features if it was believed they could be made at the movie's relatively low budget of 35 mil, but it only got that low in the first place because of illegal and unethical labor practices. Netflix is experimenting with adult-oriented features, though. Channing Tatum is going to star in one.

>>92952824
I was saying it, constantly.

>>92964463
How was I supposed to know the animators were being treated like shit? I still think this is a good step, it just didn't do as much as I would've liked because of extenuating circumstances.

>>92970277
Captain Underpants' budget was only 38mil in comparison

Also normies don't give a shit about the animators and their still the main target audience, Rogen and his jew crew can just find another animation studio to work with

The fact that japan has been making more adult oriented animation since the 70s, there's the Cleopatra movie which is weird as fuck, and made by Ozamu Tezuka's team?

Then there's Belladona.

Studio Ghibli films like Grave of the Fireflies?

Animations that were about the Atomic bombing like this one?

>>
>>92952748
>How did Sausage Party go from a movie predicted to change the animation industry itself to something NO ONE remembers?

It wasn't supposed to change the industry.

It was, however, recognized as something of a risk seeing as R-rated movies don't appeal to as large an audience as PG-13 and being animated lowers it's potential appeal even more. Many people were predicting a shoddily produced flop, while it actually turned out to be a perfectly serviceable film that made a very respectable return.
>>
>>92967312
I don't mind rewatching Knocked Up though, it actually showed character development that hasn't been in any Seth Rogen movie since. The entire point was that it started off as a dumb comedy only to slowly stray away from that and get more serious the longer it went on. Everyone had to grow up accept the reality of the situation, which is a nice change of pace from the usual adult comedy.
>>

Except that had already been done by South Park, cool world, the Simpsons, heavy metal and fritz the cat in that order.

R-rated cartoons are rare not because the suits think there's no audience for them. They're rare because animation creates a huge overhead cost and R-movies usually keep a leaner budget to balance for the loss of the teen and family demographics.

You know when you have a really awkward moment in your life you're so embarrassed of you actively repress it? That's pretty much what happened to anyone that actually paid to see this. It's a dirty little secret. Like getting caught masturbating by your roommate.

How did that shit get made let alone shown in theatres?

You never see people call Waltz with Bashir adult.

I think the death knell of "Sausage Party" was the WebM that not only featured the orgy scene, but showed just how empty the theater itself was.

If I had to guess, being animated means that they could bring in the separate cast members for one day each, record maybe two or three takes of their lines or however much they wanted to improvise, and then cut them a check. An animated version of old 80s/90s direct-to-VHS films that featured A- or B-list talent, only for said talent to be in a single room throughout the film because they could only afford them for one day of work.

I remember watching this with my dad, the look on his face throughout 90% of the movie was genuinely funnier than anything that happened on screen.
The movie overall was pretty forgettable, with maybe 1 or 2 genuine jokes in it that weren't just cursing or some heavy-handed allegory or a really dumb racist or gay joke, but that fucking food orgy scene made pirating that shit worth it.
That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen on film, and the fact that people wrote, animated, directed, and acted in that hilarious travesty still makes me laugh with how fucking terrible it was.
But yea, it's a movie made for 13 year olds and manchildren.

better than what edgy garbage Japan churns out for adult animation though.

Which always amounts to "war, rape, violence, melodrama."

You gotta admit Sausage Party was great in that it was funny.

>I wish I remembered how this guy fucked up TTE. Like, I know that's strictly a children's property, but damn.
Sub-par animation where the same camera angles, same unmodified assets, same lighting set-ups, etc. were used for 4 seasons straight. Probably his fault for accepting the daunting task of making 80 episodes and four DVD specials within a 4 year peroid. Also used fan service to keep the fans quiet when they complained, like throwing obscure winks and nods to the old show, or telling fans he would like to adapt old stories into CGI (even though the studio had no involvement in the writing, that was HiTs job). Basically, he kept putting sprinkles on piles of shit for four years.

Keep in mind Thomas was a show that was notable for its detailed live action model train sets prior to this.

Course, normal animation fans would've had no idea this hack was coming their way because, come on, it's Thomas the fucking Tank Engine.

People on this website saying shit like this is astonishing. /co/ loves shit like Muh Phoenix where half the jokes are sex jokes mixed in with casual racism, but something mainstream does it and suddenly /co/ discovers they have standards.

You can hate Sausage Party, that's fine, but don't pat yourself on the back for being discerning mature consumers when most of you like retarded shit and scoff at actual attempts at serious adult animation (not Sausage Party to be clear) for being pretentious and lacking something to fap to.
