They didn't even do that right since a lot of popular characters from the previous game aren't in this one. And on top of that UMVC3 had 50 characters including the 2 DLC characters while this game has just 28 not including the probably 22 DLC characters to make up for a small roster. Seriosuly, you'd think them not being able to use X-men characters would just mean that they'd get creative but they just said fuck it and didn't include them. Then capcom had to match their short number of characters with an equally small roster on their side, not that they'd complain since they love squeezing money out of people with DLC. He was shit because they tried a gimmick with him that was made worse by RNG. ANd you could easily put him in. Just make it so trial and investigation mode are the two main modes and give each of those modes their own unique qualities. Then make it so to use him to the fullest you have to switch between the modes depending on the situation. Have turnabout mode either be a special temporary transformation like arthur's or firebrand's that cost meter or have it just be a single super. Adding assist characters for lesser characters ain't a bad idea though.

It feels like he's trying to find an excuse for Capcom's stupidity that isn't just "Capcom is stupid".

KI uses seasons because it's, technically a free game. One fighter at random is always free to play, and you can just buy fighters as you want, and seasons just bunch things up into groups AND large balance updates. Only with season 3 was KI the price of a full game, and it was full of characters, modes and heavily supported the entire time.

Now... take SFV. Full price at launch, small roster, not enough modes initially to distract you when the servers were broken. I think the argument that SFV "didn't need single player modes" is retarded, because you can only make that argument if the servers WORKED all the time. The first several days were trash, and anytime they have to take the servers down at all, you are left realizing the game is ONLY really for online. At full price.

So yeah, blaming any off this bullshit on KI is laughable.

Skrull got in because the licensing rights dictate that if you include one member of the F4, you need to include all four of them, and Capcom felt Human Torch having his whole body be on fire (compared to the likes of Dormammu and Ghost Rider who only have a small part of their model on fire) would completely murder the framerate on 360 and PS3 in too many matchups

Reducing issues like that is part of why they went to 2v2 instead of 3v3. that basically gives them a 33% higher processing power limit during a fight

It's kinda weird when and where his interference hits and it doesn't. The mobile games have FF and X-Men characters, but I assume that is because Marvel gets ALL the money from something like that. I think since this is a joint deal with Capcom, Marvel probably wants any X-Men and FF (meaning just Dr. Doom, honestly) to be DLC, where they might get a higher cut of profits (depending on how these characters are sold).
