Moral fucking Orel. I just finished watching it. You know shows you weren't allowed to watch as a kid? When you grow up someday, you randomly remember shit. I remembered Moral Orel, and the 1 and a half episodes I watched. Now, I just finished it and it was...
A work of art. I won't call it the greatest thing I've ever watched but it was pretty damn close. No show has ever made me cry, and few have had me close more than once. This show put tears in my eyes six, count 'em, SIX times.
I don't know how many of you have actually watched or remember it, but if you haven't seen it you need to watch it. Don't let the fact that it's "about religion" deter you, because a small, religious town is only the setting.
The show left a strange taste in my emotions. Sometimes things aren't okay, and that's okay.

Sadly, I never got to watch the full series (I only got to the end of season two). But it was a very emotionally impactful show. It felt very "human" in a way that reminded me a lot of the works of Mark Twain. In particular, the way it blends religious themes with a harsh picture of human fallibility reminds me of "The Mysterious Stranger."
I really need to check out the rest of the series at some point.
