What's happening to our media guys? Wonder Woman professing to believe in love and in the same breath killing a person is straight up double speak. Can't recall how, but an anon sometime ago explained with the increasing complexity, and yet simplicity, of our modern world it's becoming harder to explain or justify why certain things are the way they are. It's simpler to instead write "relevantly" for an audience, using ideas they already accept or expect, rather than carry the weight of things alien to them or yourself.
One might assume the seemingly simple minded "moralfaggotry" stance would be the less intellectual, never questioning the necessity of hard choice, but that idea is a result of the childish framing used to convey it in most media.
The reality is Fight or Flight is the simplest, base nature of most things, having to take a stand and understand the time and purpose of civility even in the face of opposition is something only higher intelligence grasps and bothers with. The very concept of the argument and debate, not conflict, stems from a notion you can disagree with someone without drawing pistols.
That's not the case with old movies about alien invasion though is it? While highly advanced the foreign force is displayed as mindlessly hostile and unwilling to discuss anything. Simply conquering or destroying, targeting weakness, leaving us no choice but to defend ourselves however necessary, calling to the audience's basic instinct not to think too much about it. It's Us or Them.

Anyway, this isn't to say thoughtless pacifism is somehow smart or good, just that having to think when and where you really should make irreversible choice, if involving yourself at all, requires more moral processing than most people are comfortable or can be bothered with day to day.
Of course it's not just a fault of the audience and writing. The media itself has physical restraints. The simple fact is you have a limited number of pages, panels, episodes, run time, etc and need a payoff ultimately.
After all that's what any of these are, stories, no matter how high or low brow, novel or archaic thinking they're rooted in storytelling, they're not geared for pure even handed debate and discussion with no penalized winners or losers, no heroes or villains, no good and evil even if someone tries to use them as such a platform, something that is often unsuccessful, and I use that term with intent, without skill in storytelling.
There are invisible confines all around, in mind and media, governing the information and understanding we can convey.
So yes, this is real life, fiction is only a keyhole view of the big picture.

Look at the movies. Batman hated killing - yet the movies has him killing all the time. Superman too.
Look at Game of Thrones - massive gratuituous violence, evil reigning supreme... yet people eat it up and demand more. One of the most popular shows in recent times.
Movies, cartoons, media are all just serving up what people want. It's just whatever has the highest ratings to them. But that means what you're seeing is a reflection of what people want to see.
And that is becoming more and more bloody, gory, sadistic, and evil.
