I think its the backgrounds. The animation is relatively fluid, much more so than Avengers/Ultimate Spidey (someone post that avengers lineup with just the cutouts)

But the backgrounds are like abstract and weird. It doesn't make sense in an action show where a silly cartoon show may get a pass. Honestly though even cartoon-y shows have great backgrounds even if they're abstract (like Steven Universe, even fucking TTG has detailed backgrounds)

It like they tried to go for the original Ben 10 series' art style, but gave up on shading, animating, and all the other details. I mean, fuck, the backgrounds are absolute ass. I really wanted to see if it could have any redeeming qualities, but nope. This is pretty unfortunate.

The quips feel like they were hard to come up too, probably because they're forced in during moments that don't need it. If you're gonna do an overabundance of quips, though, and they're not funny, then why have them? Writers donb't get that they don't have to make him quip ONLY to annoy the characters but to have banter with others. It's like an extension of normal dialogue for Peter. A good example is in Spectular Spider-Man, where he first meets Black Cat. They use the banter to help us learn about Black Cat because she quips back to him. It becomes a dialgoue -- a dance of interaction.

I dunno. I feel like the show was really hurt in places by the censorship from what I remember.

Also, some things were just silly.

>Norman gives him ANOTHER glider, which also has no fail safe in it
>everyone winds up surprised when Hobgoblin fucks both sides over
