In comic books, if the character has super strength and are nigh-invulnerable or have absolute invulnerability, then yeah, they can wear leotards, tights, bodystockings or bodysuits, or almost no clothing, or really form fitting clothing that looks painted on. But the live action adaptations of the costumes are going to need to look really different.

Also, why not put armor on the women in comic books? Armor can look cool, just like Ahmey from The Tower of Druaga, or Iria from the live action Zeiram and the Iria: Zeiram The Animation.

I think I remember from watching a featurette on television from the first Thor movie that the armor they wore helps with their posture and when they get overheated in the armor, they can just pour cold water into their armor to cool them down. I remember reading from that Looper website about how the Black Widow costume was hated because it would cause hallucinations for the wearer since she would overheat in it.
