How is this possible? How can a black man be so fucking kawaii? Not just his cartoon character, but Mike in the credits is always one of the best parts of the show. Just him talking.
>>
He raped someone and got away with it
>>
>>92879775
going to jail is getting away with it?
>>
>>92879775
Yeah, he served his time and is changed now. Years of getting punched in the head and being constantly pumped full of testosterone fucked the guy up. He was like a show shark.
>>
>>92879747
All those hits in the boxing ring have left him brain-damaged and emotionally stunted, leaving him with the mental cognition and thought process of a 12-year-old Japanese girl.
>>
>>92879775
Exactly, now that's charisma!

Honestly, I feel like the last episode was the weakest so far. It wasn't bad, but it felt like the writers were running low on ideas there.

I know the sho make a masterful use of awkward silence and non-humor humor, but for this one they pushed it a bit too far.

That being said, the ending saves it all and that melting lady make up entirely for the rest of the episode.
>>
>>92879775

Who the hell goes into a hotel room with Mike Tyson at 3 AM not expecting to be fucked?

In a perfect world, OJ was guilty and Mike never went to prison.
>>
>>92880681
>not expecting to be fucked?
Not that it is what happened in Tyson's case, but it's always possible to change your mind, you know.

I mean, if your are fucking someone and she says she seriously want to stop, then it isn't rape, but if you continue anyway, then it is rape. The key point is and has always been consensuality.

Not that any of this matter of r this precise case, has Tyson has made his time for it anyway.

Don King was a leech, but he seemed like he made sure Mike was educated, or at least someone in that circle was making sure of it. They seemed to purposefully skip over math and finance in order to milk him dry.

Brilliantly tragic, Cus was a trainer and a father to him and died before he could truly teach Mike the importance of considering other people. King pushed him to heights he could never have reached otherwise, but took advantage of him at his most vulnerable. His wives, the women around him, his "friends", none of them had respect for him as a human being, just the greatest boxer of this era.

No idea. If they want safety they should make more Tysons who KO in one punch so the dude only gets minor injuries rather than a sustained beatdown.

the guy they named the tendon in your lower leg-foot after

>>92887155
People want bloodsport, not an actual competition. That's one of the reasons why football is so popular in the states and safety rules pretty much only exist for the Quarterback position while the rest can get their fucking knees blown out by chop blocks and double teamed by 300lb offensive linemen. They want to see people in pain while the offense rakes up points.

The only thing to do is incentivize teams to take better care of their players. More games in a season would probably force them to play less brutally, or at least rotate players more, giving them enough rest

>>
>>92887155
Funnily enough, boxing was actually safer for combatants during the bareknuckle era. The gloves were introduced to protect boxers' hands and prolong their careers, but it also made it possible for them to punch opponents square in the head rather than the body blows they relied on before, which lead to far more head injuries and deaths in the ring.

>sue happy justice system
Fuck no. The problem is the fact that the market exists and that it's being catered to. The justice system not being sue happy wouldn't fix the fact that these guys are getting their brains bashed in and that medical bills are piling up.

It'd just lead to an even more fucked up healthcare system floating on a bubble of sport and work injuries which never get paid off because employers are no longer responsible for the shitty environment they put their workers in. Then that'd bite the taxpayer in the ass.

The solution, as the other anon pointed out, is to pump out more Tysons and less people who bounce around the ring and sustain several dozen hits a match until they pass out for 10 seconds or time runs out.
>>
Season 3 has actually been pretty weak.

Hopefully that speedboat episode picks things up.
>>
>>92889852
He's the president, there isn't a higher position than that in the country.
>>
>>92889890
It's iffy. With head injuries you can always argue it's from something unrelated because you can't actually see a concussion with xrays or anything like that. You may be able to see some damage or hemmoraging, but who's to say that came from a match, and not training or something entirely unrelated? So you ignore that, and maybe do a small class action settlement if too many former athletes are complaining. Same thing happens with football. And I don't know if this happens with pros, but while I played college ball, there were stipulations in our scholarships that stated insurance would only cover injuries/bills two years from date of injury. Ergo if you have a head injury or your brain starts bleeding ten years from now due to stuff you did while playing with the team, you're fucked. And it's exactly why I reported everything that happened no matter how little, so I wouldn't be on the hook for it if it gets worse as I age, and I recommended all my younger teammates do the same.

For a lot of teams/organizations, from what I hear, they're really only concerned with injuries that affect production in the sport. They could care less about life after sport.

Being president is a high position, but it's also one where you're effectively in chains. You're not a king with unparalleled power. A nameless CEO of a fortune 500 company has a better ability to pull strings than the president does, and is arguably closer to a king. They have no checks and balances unless self imposed, and can do whatever the fuck they want with the budget as long as the shareholders see a profit.

Also he's made an ass of himself and had run-ins with law almost too many times to count, groping women, drunk driving, public exposure, causing riots,,

Michael Spinks' manager has a funny story about going into Tyson's locker room before their fight to gauge the mood and get a feel for how Tyson was going to start the fight. He recalled seeing Tyson punching holes in the walls as soon as he entered, before quickly leaving.

Because in the Illiad Achilles is depicted with an incredible temper but ferocious fighting style, very similar to Tyson. The employers aren't slave masters. People can choose where they want to work. Its up to the employees of the organization to come together and work an agreement that better suits them than waiting 20 years after they've been out of the profession to come and cry abuse because they weren't smart enough to invest their money

Also it's ridiculous for these companies to turn around and blame the retards they wrangled for not investing money in their future when they've been telling them ever since they signed them not to think about it.

They're wrangling poor dumb people, bashing their skulls in, and then yelling at them when they complain about their heads hurting afterwards. That's evil.

>pretending that he isn't a rapist because "muh served time"
That' snot pretending he isn't a rapist; It's saying that he commited something bad and faced the consequence of it.

You have to accept that a criminal who has faced justice and has finished his sentence is then allowed to return to society and live with all the benefit of any citizen again. that include using your skill to gain money.

Do you seriously think anyone gave Mike the lesson on investing when he was 17? Or that the NCAA does the same today? Get the fuck outta here. Dude the man took time in prison to rethink his life. We literally had a person in charge of judging exactly how much time he needed to spend in prison - called a judge - and then he spent that much time in prison. The fact that he reassessed his life choices and chose to try to be more virtuous should be commended - he rehabilitated himself.

He's a messed up guy, he's a hardcore drug addict and he offered cocaine to a fellow drug addict. It was irresponsible but I don't think you can lay Hartman's wife's murder-suicide at his feet. She is responsible for her own actions. If an alcoholic offered a recovering alcoholic some booze and they went on to commit a murder-suicide you'd blame them for the murder-suicide?

I've heard he was abused or molested which is probably why he's such a basketcase.

>>92902521
Jail and prison are 2 different things
>>
>>92902755
His actions definitely led to it indirectly, yes. No matter how intoxicated or fucked up you are in the head offering drugs to a recovering addict and making them relapse is never really excusable. And it would be one thing if he were remorseful in any way about it, but what he said to Jon Lovitz (which the OP forgot also included "you're the next to die") kind of clearly shows he doesn't care.
>>
>>92902521
It does a bad job of it as a result of the private prison system being an overcrowded pump and dump dedicated to bagging cheap labor from people who haven't done anything serious, but the intention as far as the inmates are concerned when it comes to sentencing is to rehabilitate. Mike served his time in the eyes of the law and the majority of society has accepted him. He's reformed, legally and socially.
>>
>>92902967
Well when you get accused of being responsible for a murder-suicide, that you probably already feel guilty about, you might react in a bitter way by trying to say something hurtful to the guy. Especially if you're on drugs at the time and your judgement is impaired.

I don't mean to defend him too much, he clearly acts like an asshole. But I pity him. I think he's probably beyond any help even if he wanted to change.

I think even in ancient Greece there were differing views on that. The Greek tragedies are all about otherwise "great" men fucking themselves over. Their lives are destroyed not because of their weakness but because of their shortsightedness, pride, temper or whatever other spiritual shortcomings they may have.

There is a deep respect for strength but also an understanding that strength alone can't save a man from his own failings. And every hero has failings.

>>
>>92890757
Not at all. Greek philosophy held that stance but Greek philosophers were treated as evil minds corrupting the youth. Thinkers like Plato were shunned and vilified.
The whole idea of the Greeks being a noble philosophical society is sort of overplayed and totally untruthful. People picked up the philosophy later once the greats died and most of the architecture of the time was built in honor of the gods and military might, and not due to any desire to actually make advances for the sake of math or science. Only place that's sort of exceptional in that regard is Athens, and even then, they acted most on behalf of Athena and military advances, and philosophy was just taken with a grain of salt and was nowhere near fully embraced.
>>
>>92904138
>But he seems like a loyal guy who just wanted to protect his family.

>Also, the fact that he's still marketable is on the people willing to buy, not on Mike for "getting away" with anything.

Actually, part of the reason the outrage cycle hasn't hit the show is because most tastemakers were convinced that Tyson didn't know he was the butt of the joke in the 1st season. One of the unspoken hooks of the show for that crowd is that it's ongoing punishment for convicted rapist Mike Tyson. So long as they felt secure that Tyson was being humiliated, they were fine with it. When he gave off the impression that he was in on the joke in S2, there was a little alarm, but it died down. If it was well-known that he's OK with the liberties they take with him on the show, most would consider that to be "getting away" with it.
>>
>>92912287
I don't know. Tyson has been in on things like the Hangover and such, and audiences have loved his appearances. Him possibly being the butt of a joke, may have been the draw for some edgy people watching, but for mosr of us, we watched because we like Mike. And honestly, someone holding such a fucked up stance deserves to be upset at the way the show is progressing. Youd have to be an idiot to really think a fitting punishment for a man is to give him multiple movie appearances and his own TV Show, all paid. The joke isn't on anyone but the idiots who might think they're watching a man who already did his time serve some fucked up life sentence inside their TV.

Not to mention why would you even want to watch something like that? That's such a fucked up premise to watch a show on. Fucking people suck, I swear.
