It's probably best to abandon the notion of gender in this case. Transformers don't reproduce like organics and have no genitals. There is no real difference between Onslaught and, say, Strika (in fact they are very similar).

In the UK comic it was resolved rather elegantly: Arcee was created as a response to the outcries of feminists (in the comic itself) who complained the Transformers lacked female representation. So they made a female Transformer... and it was Arcee. That REALLY pissed them off.

I still don't know why the hell they needed to fix up Swindle this way. The Combaticons already used the Enigma to regain their merged form with Swindle supposedly braindead, however as we'd seen all the way back when Starscream first obtained the damn thing the Engima can heal a Combiner having done so to repair Superior after Devastator kicked his ass. This means the Enigma should have repaired all of Bruticus' components into the bargain. Maybe the Combaticons forgot to USE it in that fashion, of course. Honestly I think the far more likely explanation is that the healing capabilities of the Enigma have been very deliberately sidelined to avoid having a cheap insta-repair medical gimmick so long as, presumably, they can combine you into a group. I'm still a bit iffy on that since we don't know if everyone can combine or if they really need to be in sync.

Superion was hardly "naturally" formed. He was the result of a Decepticon signal, the one that formed Deceptigod, which was being broadcast in the wilds of Cybertron and causing even turbofoxes to merge - or otherwise go insane. Or both. The Aerialbots wound up merging together but were no match for Devastator, who was created through DECEPTI-SCIENCE! Just as the Combaticons were, albeit under Swindle's less than adept hands.

Superion was later recreated by the Enigma with a new team member added, same as Devastator was with Scoop. Really there is absolutely no reason it could heal Superion and not Bruticus. The Enigma's powers don't have to explain shit.

It's...complicated. Basically Galvatron was using Blackrock's Onyx OS to basically hotwire the entire planet, somehow, using the aforementioned OS into his own giant Enigma and...shenanigans happened. Galvatron, or rather Galvatronus could force Combiners to uncombine, destroying (temporarily) Victorion but Superion wasn't a creation of the Enigma but the Depticon signal so he could resist it. Basically he copied part of the Engima's code into his brain and nullified Galvatron's control, breaking apart Galvatronus and Sky-Reign, and crippling the Onyx OS code...but only so long as Superion never reforms.

Combiners and Titans are both pretty shit in IDW for all the hype surrounding them. Typically they're represented as being extremely resilient and resistant to damage but this turns out to be merely plot armor. The moment it is removed, or never given in the first place, and a Combiner just represents a larger than usual target. Fucking Overlord was an unstoppable murder machine and even reducing him to practically a skeleton still left him functioning within lethal capacity.

At least the Titans were zombies, for whatever difference that made, which isn't much given Starscream one-shotted Chela, Onyx's Titan.

Victorion is left largely along, I suspect, for two reasons. One is that they are better known for their combined form since really only Pyra Magna has had any real character development or focus. I'd be surprised if people can even remember the names of the entire team, or the team name for that matter. The numbers of people who can answer it may be big here, people are really into this stuff, but they definitely have yet to achieve anything approaching character recognition even over obscure bastards like the Piranacons.

The other reason is even if Pyra can damage Optimus' faceplate with a sucker punch she'll still need the others to actually stand against him.

No, I think he means the overwriting of her fundamental CNA to make her into a ladybot. She still talks about how she was violated and just recently mentioned her therapeutic time spent ripping Jhiaxus apart over and over again.

Arcee still has a metric fuckton of issues from what was done to her, but she is still far more stable. The fact that she's no longer the only ladybot in existence seems to have given her a much greater sense of peace, or at least removed much of the stigma about feeling like an oddity.
