Is this studio the equivalent of an unmotivated kid who can do great things when they try?
Why are they content with making shitty movies when they've made wonderful films like Prince of Egypt, How To Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda?

Because Dreamworks has a terrible case of Sequelscrewup disease.
Anytime time they try to make Sequels to their first endeavors it never comes out as good as the first.
Why do you think we never saw a Sequel to Over the Hedge?
Cause it would bomb so hard people would Riot over it.

What about Shrek 2? I thought that was well-received.

Kung Fu Panda 2 was better than the first.
3 though...

The studio has bad movies because Jeffrey Katzenberg was running it up until recently. Now Universal Studios owns them, I expect they'll start publishing better films in the next five years. Their movies might be alright but their marketing is absolutely awful, and I don't care what the results said about Home, it was a god terrible movie with forced plot progression.

have you taken a look at their 'future films' entry on wikipedia? i don think they're learning

>Dreamworks Home
>couldn't even picture what that movie is at all
>did I forget or miss something?
>google it
>see that stupid alien
I had completely forgotten it, it looked so bad that I didn't even bother watching it.
Dreamworks has great people working for it when they do great projects. It isn't the studio itself that is good, its those people who had the good ideas that Dreamworks happened to fund.

>tfw we will never get another traditionally animated dreamworks masterpiece.
Prince of Egypt, Sinbad, and El Dorado are all such fucking beautiful films.

Their multi show Netflix partnership with Studio Mir is where it's at now.
