For /co/, it's divided. One side enjoys it for being something different for CN and having an unique artsyle, another side is for the art and ideas that they can make for the concept, and the other side is for the fujoshit and porn.

For Tumblr, it's fun to draw the characters, lusting over Black Hat, Flug, or Demencia, or just liking the concept for it. Some of Tumblr hates it because some storyboarder drama or whatever.

The characters have potential for cute "love/hate" relationships that people adore.
Art style with sharp angles which is a fucking rarity now-a-days.
Reminiscent of Invader ZIM style of writing rather than just more Adventure Time/Regular Show-esque writing which 80% of cartoons seem to be similar to now.
Fills the niche of dark comedy that we've been lacking since Flapjack ended. Gravity Falls didn't quite itch that scratch for a lot of people.
