The problem with nuPPG is that they aren't trying to make a good show. They're trying to make a marketable show, and if they can remove 100% chance of the show being labeled as "problematic" by what's likely their real targeted market (i.e. fans who would've bought merch if the show didn't suck balls, as seen by the fact that merch was previewed before the new show aired and given more attention than the show itsself) then they had a nice safe cashcow.

In regards to characters like Dipper and Lincoln Loud, I think they are loosely based on the creators and a semi-unique experience they had growing up (In hirsch's case, a twin, in Loud's case, being the only male out of 6 kids) and building onto it. If a good series comes from it, that's all that really matters.

However if Hirsch's sister is really like Mabel, she sounds fucking annoying. Mabel is pretty damn selfish and i'm glad she got a small redemption for it in the series but just barely.
