If there redesigning the characters I hope they give Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Bumblebee better designs . They have the worst designs in the show.

It has me worried honestly. DC Superhero Girls is a pretty popular brand and getting Lauren Faust on it makes me think they'll change it up significantly from the formula they aready have, which might scare off little girls.

Plus, we all know how CN treats DC shows like shit. If they reboot the whole line for a show we all know will last one season and be hidden and 8AM on Saturday mornings while repeating the first episodes for half a year, how much damage is that going to do to the line as a whole? Espwxially if there is a significant style change to something like Super Best Friends.

They also seem to be scrapping half the cast- Harley, Ivy, Frost, Cheetah, and Carol were part of the main cast but seem like they're being replaced with people like Zatanna and Jessica Cruz, and it sounds like the male cast is gone too. The blurb about the show made me think its going to basically be My Little Pony structured, with a small main cast and occasional cameos by different people, instead of a rotating cast with different characters getting the spotlight.

If you mean will it be like the original, probably not. I've infiltrated a community of Female DC fans on Tumblr and they're all worried about Lauren turning the franchise into My Little Pony- in their words, "making it appeal to middle aged men instead of little girls."

I can't say I blame them either; the announcement makes the thing sound totally different from what we're used to, and part of the fun was seeing all these characters together. The creators said that their market research told them that kids like it when the villains become friends with the heroes, not when they just beat them, and it sounds like Lauren intends to put all the villains on a bus and treat them like Giganta is in the web series.

It's not like the villains weren't already kind of bratty anyway. Frost was a tantrum-throwing know it all, Cheetah was a bully, Ivy was irresponsible and only cared about her interests, Harley was selfish and inconsiderate, and Carol was shallow. They don't need to be a rival school or something.

Plus we all know Lauren is going to turn Batgirl into Twilight and Harley into Pinkie Pie.

As an adult man who likes DCSHG the irony was not lost on me but that's apparently a huge concern for women in general regarding these franchises. Bronies caused cultural shockwaves and I don't know if society will ever recover.

The double ironic thing, of course, is that DCSHG was conceived to have cross-gender appeal. Stores originally weren't supposed to stock them in the pink aisle but on endcaps between the boy and girl sections. That's also why they have the 12" dolls with clothes and hair and the 6" action figures.
