Why can't both companies sit down and create proper crossovers instead of being autistic manchildren?

It opens up endless duos and events which would put some fresh air into industry.

Ask Marvel. They're the ones who poisoned the well and the majority of writers on their staff are butthurt at DC for whatever reason.
>>

Joe Quesada said a mean thing once so DC took their ball and went home.

Now Marvel is owned by Disney so the odds of that happening are even less likely.

The end.

Money. As in they (Disney, the owner of Marvel and TimeWarner, the owner of WB) don't want to collaborate all that much because in doing so they'd have to share profit with each other.

>Multimillionaire Executives: "Shar-ing? What kind of bullshit is that?"

Also the crossovers that actually happened sucked, with the exception of JLA/Avengers (but that was Busiek/Perez)
>>
DC is willing to do crossovers - look at how many collaborations they have had with Boom, Dynamite and IDW in recent years.

Marvel by comparison have done no crossovers with any other company, DC or otherwise.

We can infer that DC is willing to play ball with other publishers (they even let the smaller company publish the book sometimes like GL/Planet of the Apes).

Actually DC started it with issuing ultimatums, and then Quesadilla happened and it all went to hell.

Johns once said in a podcast like ten years ago that he and Fraction tried to do an Ironman/Green Lantern crossover but it was shot down to oblivion by both sides, and it was during a time when both writers had good relations with both companies.

or KFC
especially KFC

It's Marvel's fault. DC does crossovers literally all the time. I think JL/Power Rangers is still coming out right now.

Marvel has done crossovers in the past, with at least DC (Marvel vs DC, JLA/Avengers, Amalgam) and Archie comics (Archie vs Punisher).

They won't anymore because Quesada a shit and Disney will never let it happen. DC is way more chill and open about sharing.

fuck off

a little of this: comics aren't really making all that much money, the industry as a whole is worth short of a billion dollars annually, and no company is making more than about 40% of that - from which they're paying their production and staffing and so on

>>92745917
a great deal of this

there's only so many times Thor and Superman can get all homoerotic holding each other's hammers

>>92745999

DC did a crossover with Subway when the Green Lantern movie came out

awkward

>>92746005
Power Rangers is a suprisingly small brand with a terrible Q rating, they need to get into things like that

>>92746393
the last one i remember with another comic book publisher was I think an IDW Transformers/Avengers crossover

but again it's not something Marvel needs to do, because:

Marvel has about 40% of the annual dollar share of the entire US comic book industry coming to it. Despite growth in sales in some years and in some sectors of that market, the fact is most of the people buying Marvel/DC historically have been... the same people. Not different tribes divided by company loyalties, just fans of writers, of characters, of artists, whatever. They buy according to whim and according to ability - if they've got the money, they'll buy more. If not, they won't.

There's precious little benefit to be had from a crossover - you're not getting more than a handful of readers who wouldn't ordinarily touch your books, and even if you are, there's a strong possibility they'll never buy anything else of yours because they're insane company wars guys.

For a company like IDW a crossover with a larger publisher makes sense; for a larger publisher, it makes sense on a case by case basis, depending on the notoriety of the titles. For example, you're never going to see a Batman vs Orc Stain because nobody bought Orc Stain; but you might see a Batman vs MLP because *lots* of people buy it, and not all of them are children. Movies to cross-promote help.

I remember the Spider-Man/Batman one being okay.
>>
>>92745592
a Batman v Ironman movie done by the Marvel Studio would make so much fucking money that it'd be fucking stupid. Sometimes it's more important to make more money than the other guy than to make a lot of money yourself. That's how you keep from being bought out.
>>
>>92746995
>done by the Marvel Studio
Money or not, WB is never gonna let Disney touch Batman, come on.
>>
marvel doesn't need to do a crossover with DC b/c they're the top dog money wise

quality-wise obviously they're shit, but they're both owned by mega corps and only money talks
