I mean there are people who are unsatisfied with the ending, but not a single one I've seen lists Jack "killing" everybody as part of their complaints. If anything, this seems like a natural thing to do for the greater good.
This is probably one of the few good things that have stayed as a part of Russian mentality after USSR. Sacrificing sentiment for practicality. In many Russian people's minds, there's no "but he killed all those people". Or at least that's not important. What important is that he rid the world of Aku. End of the story. No need to torture yourself with petty self-reflection about something you cannot change. The ending is Genndy's roots showing from deep inside of him.

I think what people were really hoping for was some kind of future epilogue scene.

Seeing Jack save The Past is important, it provides catharsis, and goes a long way towards helping the ending feel like a good one despite the losses that Jack suffers.

BUT it's not enough to just see that things turned out okay in The Past, we need to see that things turned out okay in The Future as well. We need to see confirmation that Jack's actions didn't just trade a terrible future for a slightly less terrible one.

Happy stories and endings get the benefit of extra suspension of disbelief.
Bittersweet and sad ones need to be consistent with its own lore, or you wont care about his death / struggles.

Of course people will get pissed if the loved X character gets a death that makes no sense in the setting, had no foreshadowing, and provides no closure with the only justification being "I wanted to create a bittersweet ending. Come on, start crying".

Then it's not a satisfactory ending.

An ending can be happy or it can be bittersweet or even tragic, but it needs to at least have some closure to it. You can't leave the audience without any sense that the hero's journey and struggles and sacrifices actually led to something.

In the last shot you see that the world in the past looks peaceful and great. Therefore the future of this world will be peaceful and great. That is the implication.
