I'd say what Jack went through in the Aku Infection but it could be because that was an "infectious" kind of Aku essence it worked a particular way.

Aku consigns himself to the idea that lording over multiple planetary systems is boring on its own, and living in constant fear/paranoia of being struck down by an immortal foe hasn't made it any better. Knowing full well of the chaos that will ensue from his departure, Aku tasks Jack with protecting Earth and vanquishing the remnants of his evil, just to see if he could succeed. He even gives his blessing to marry Ashi, should Jack uphold his end of the bargain.

Ultimately, he mellows out into a grumpy old man who loves his grandkids and messes with his son-in-law for kicks and giggles, despite them not trying to kill eachother anymore.
